I moved to Hotel MOLA Galata after a few days in a less than stellar hotel in Sultanahmet. It was a welcome change. The room was clean and comfortable. It is in a business district so there is activity and noise during the day. There’s lots of local options for food nearby, including just across the alley for the best breakfast I had during my time in Istanbul. One night I also took my doner up to the roof and enjoyed an unbeatable dinner view at sunset.

I stayed at Hotel MOLA Galata for four nights in September 2026, my final stretch in Istanbul, and it turned out to be a great home base for exploring the city one last time before heading home. The location is fantastic — right in Galata, close to Karaköy and within easy reach of all the major sites, making it super convenient for wandering the neighborhood or hopping to Sultanahmet and Beyoğlu. The 5th floor terrace has genuinely great views over the area, a nice spot to unwind with a coffee or just take in the city before heading out for the day. The design of the hotel itself is really cute — thoughtfully put together in a way that gives it a lot of character without feeling over-the-top. It strikes me as a great choice for solo travelers or couples specifically, given the intimate scale and feel of the place. There's also a cool-looking cafe downstairs — I didn't get a chance to try it myself, but it added to the overall charm of the building. One small but appreciated detail: the lockbox and door key system made coming and going incredibly easy, which matters a lot when you're out exploring all day and coming back at odd hours. At around $70 USD a night (as of September 2026), this was excellent value for the location, design, and views on offer over a four-night stay. Highly recommend for anyone wanting a stylish, well-located, and reasonably priced base in Galata.

The good: close to vibrant neighborhoods and attractions; nice common areas; laundry service available; cleanliness was decent, elevator access. The bad: Location in dark side alley; rooms not soundproof at all (can hear everything in the hallways); comfort room was very tiny; bed mattress quite soft; thick layer of dust bunnies under the bed; fridge wasn’t cold.

WiFi not good for work calls. But otherwise a great place. 10 minute walk to rail, shopping, dining and nightlife. Balcony had a wonderful view overlooking the city. Great vibes with the staff, lobby sounds as a coffee shop and it was always a good conversation with interesting people. Room was spacious, they provided everything you could need. Only complaint was the toilet/bathroom smelled a little - smelled like sewer water although everything was clean.

Nice hotel in the Galata area, with well decorated interior. The location is very close to the Galata tower and cafes/restaurants. It’s easy to get around the city from the hotel, and not far from the metro stop but it is located down some quiet backstreets and if you’re travelling alone that may concern you. I didn’t have any issues but would recommend sticking to the main roads. The rooftop terrace is a great bonus and gives great views over the Galata Bridge. The hotel accepts cash payments only, you can’t prepay and you can’t pay using any kind of card (credit/debit/Amex). That isn’t very clearly mentioned on the listing and I only found out the night before my stay. In 2023 that is very unusual for a city centre hotel.

Very basic room that wasn't the cleanest. Plug sockets were loose and towels were like sand paper. The standard room was ok for sole occupancy but not sure it was big enough for two. Very tired and not very well maintained room. Conveniently for Galata tower but a little difficult for those with mobility issues. Far nicer places around for similar prices nearby.

Hotel MOLA Galata has a personable and helpful staff that helped make my stay a pleasure. The hotel is in a safe location with access to all points of interest, via bus, metro, ferrie, taxi, and on foot. The style of the hotel is appealing and you can get coffee, tea and food in the lobby. There is also an expansive and awe inspiring view of the Golden Horn from the terrace.

We had a deluxe room on the top floor with a great view, cute interior. We didn’t take the breakfast but it is served on the Rodrigo with an amazing view. There’s a little mosque right around the corner, so bring your earplugs if you don’t want to be waken up at 5am. The staff was very friendly and sweet. Metro very close, you can walk to most sightseeing spots.

It was a good stay here; breakfast was good and room was clean. Staff is excellent. It covers everything, price is also good. Hotel is also close to city center and tower. There are some lighting shops around. I visit some music shops at galata and dervish house. thank you istanbul

I absolutely loved my stay at Hotel MOLA Galata. It is minutes walking distance to Galata Tower and many options of restaurants and cafes on a pedestrian only street. The hotel is so close to everything but also quiet for sleeping as it’s just a few blocks away. The rooftop terrace has stunning views of Istanbul and a great place to have a wine or coffee. The hotel has wonderful staff who are there 24 hours so it feels very safe and secure. A special thank you to Omar who was very kind and helped with great recommendations in the area.

It's more like a hostel than a hotel. There is a microwave in the room which is very useful, but the mugs are cracked though still could be used. The room cleaning was quite random, new towels were replaced but the old ones were not collected. One of the clean towels was stained, probably that didn't get noticed after laundry. The free parking was a real bonus.

Sauberes kleines hotel . Zimmer modern und sehr sauber . Wirklich emphelenswert. Super zentral in paar geh min. Ist man am galata tower . Personal ist super lieb . Einzige "nachteil" wäre : die strecken gehen manchmal sehr steil hoch und runter aber das hat man überall in istanbul . Immer wieder gerne

Zimmer war modern eingerichtet und sauber. Kontakt freundlich. Angenehme Nähe zu Meer/Atatürkbrücke und Galataturm. Manko: kein Platz für Koffer und wenig für Kleidung. Badezimmer ohne Fenster oder Klimaanlage. Kein Frühstück ( aber das war schon beim Buchen bekannt).

Die Unterkunft ist sehr empfehlenswert! Ausblick herrlich! An der Sauberkeit kann man noch etwas arbeiten, nach bitte wird die räumlichkeit gesäubert. Es ist zentral, für allein reisende, man kann die gassen am Abend vermeiden und den Hauptweg nutzen. Im gesamten top und detailreich!

Abbiamo soggiornato al 5 piano del Mola Hotel, vista esageratamente bella, camera ottima negli spazi e nei servizi, peccato per una piccola infiltrazione d’acqua dal soffitto durante un acquazzone. Ovviamente non riparabile al momento ma lo staff è stato molto gentile e disponibile a trovare una soluzione. Vicino a Metro, Galata tower e a le fermate dei tram. Consigliatissimo
