I want to share my experience so people can mange their expectations. The staff was polite and helpful and many things were out of their control like the weather. There was a terrible storm that got one of the beds soaking wet and there was not much they could do about it. Since it was rainy season the bed never dried and developed a foul odor. The water is not for swimming at least in my opinion, we even saw someone urinating from another deck.

For the price paid the room could have at least have soap, shampoo, mirror to get ready, Staff very friendly, food was okay. I was a bit surprised, the pictures posted online looks different than when you are actually there, the water looks nothing as what see in the pics.

The over the water rooms provide amazing views. There is no AC but the doors open the full length of wall to a patio and provide enough breeze along with a windows and a fan. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We loved our stay and would come back.

The greatest aspect of the place was the fact that your bedroom opens up to the sea and you can wake up with a gorgeous view. Stacey was very helpful and accommodating in many ways. The hike to Wizard Beach was rewarding.

The over water property is on the edge of the Old Bank. It’s easy to walk around and also to catch a water taxi from the dock. The room was well-appointed and bed was comfortable. Water pressure was weak, but not something that was a deal-breaker. The view of the water is amazing, and you feel very secluded. The staff were excellent and helpful. There is some noise from the wildlife and dogs nearby, which is unavoidable.

The Sea Monkey is an experience you will never forget. The view is unbeatable and the rustic feel makes this overwater bungalow such a great experience. Lin let us check in super early, gave us a quick tour and was very helpful by WhatsApp. She helped set up a tour, and organized breakfast every morning right to our door. She also helped us reserve a tour at the coffee farm even though we were checking out. They are in the process of building more bungalows - we are excited to see these when they are done! One little thing to note for other tourists is that there is no AC, but there is a huge fan right above the bed and we found it warm but comfortable in the unit.

Relaxing stay

I had a really relaxing stay at the Sea Monkey. I was in awe of the breathtaking views, and spent much of my time relaxing on the outdoor hammock enjoying the weather and location. The staff were quick in responding to requests via whats app and were super helpful! I enjoyed the little town that was accessible by foot and appreciated that this was also just a 5-10 minute boat ride to other activities. I so cannot wait until I get to come back again!

An idyllic stay, but with a few minor slip-ups that could have been avoided. Without that, I highly recommend it, the view is magnificent, but beware of noise pollution. The breakfast is TOP, especially the banana pancakes.

We loved Isla Bastimentos, the people, and the property but there is quite a bit of litter on the island and the water is not clean enough around the villa to swim in. It seemed that a lot of grey water and dirt went into to the water as it smelled.

The pictures are misleading. The cabin itself is fine. However, the water is not that clear. Not even close. The area around it is filthy with trash so you don’t want to go in the water. This is a place for a backpacker looking for a deal. They could also use an extra fan. If you are there on the weekend the town is extremely loud. The staff was great but we would not go back due to the area.

The view is amazing and the property has potential however there is trash everywhere and often floating in the water. We were disappointed that the hammock was ripped so we could not use it. We let them know but no effort was made. There were multiple water bugs! In the middle of the night I woke up to a water bug on me in the bed sleeping. The music from the town is pumping all night. We ended up paying to visit another beach during the day which was great but requires a water taxi and beach entrance fees. Not a place to get away to relax. The price is not worth it, the quality is about the same as a hostel.

L’équipement et le personnel sont tops sauf qu’il n’y a pas d’échelle sur le ponton pour que tous les clients puissent aller à l’eau 😬 si vous n’avez pas les 2 bungalows devant pour 3 personnes et bien vous pouvez juste la regarder et vue la chaleur c’est très embêtant ! On aurait pu y aller par le village derrière mais c’est encore plus décevant car c’est une immense décharge ou déchèterie comme vous voulez 😡 donc c’est un peu chère pour avoir les pieds dans une déchèterie !!

Marilin foi muito gentil e carinhosa. Nos deu cortesias. Me atendeu em tudo o que pedi. O bangalô é espaçoso, agradável. Infelizmente não dava pra tomar banho e a água estava escura. Não sei se é a época do ano ou as chuvas, porque chegamos com chuva e no dia seguinte ja veio o sol. Na varanda do bangalô, tomanos nosso café da manhã, há um cardápio para escolha. O café, o suco, o abacaxi, tudo bem gostoso. Fizemos nosso café da manhã no bangalô 1. A noite jantamos tambem na varanda do bangalô. Não tem ar, mas tem um bom ventilador e estava fresco à noite. As meninas são muito gentis. A cidade old bank não tem saneamento básico e tem muito lixo. Mas é interessante. Gostei bastante.

Wer hier Flitterwochen plant, sollte die eigenen Ansprüche überdenken. Es handelt sich hier, um eine Holzhütte auf dem Wasser...nicht mehr...nicht weniger. Es pfeift der Wind durch...es gibt Tiere wie Kakerlaken. Und ja hier treibt im Wasser hin und wieder Müll. Selbstreflexion ist ein guter Zeitpunkt. Der "gehört" doch mittlerweile in unsere Welt. Die Strände sind traumhaft...Old Banks, der Standort der Hütte, scheint nicht komplett vom Tourismus zu profitieren, so erhält man den Eindruck ins authentische "locallife" eintauchen zu dürfen. Allerdings auch mit allen Konsequenzen...Musik soweit das Gehör reicht...Baustellen...Hundegebell...Müllverbrennung (und leider gehört auch da viel Plastik zu)...die Menschen, sind alle sehr nett...sehr bemüht...und die Restaurants sind großartig. Westliche Konsumwerte sollten nicht als Maßstab mitgenommen werden...Bei tollem Wetter, gibt es wohl wenige Plätze, die das toppen können...
