“Got there at 8:15pm booked in and got shown to our rooms, once we put our stuff down we went down stairs to get a drink and order some food, we ordered our drink and asked for menus, we were told it had been too busy and we couldn’t get food. After a moan they apologised and brought us menus we ordered for a chicken burger and two steak pies. “This is an excellent hotel. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and I noticed how conscientious and hard-working the restaurants and bar staff were in particular. The food in the restaurant was excellent. I enjoyed a delicious roast tomato soup and local ice cream. The breakfast was one of the best I’ve had in a long time in a hotel. “We have never stopped in a room that was so smelly and noisy. The room smelled of wet dog. The bath smelled foisty and damp. Our room was above 2 night clubs. The window didn't shut properly so we heard evey beat of music. We could even hear beeping of the crossing beside the railway station .”

“Had a wonderful 2 night stay at the Horse & Farrier. Room was excellent with great facilities , Comfy bed , iron and ironing board , hairdryer and lovely big shower. full size fridge and wine glasses and a sink complete with fairy liquid, great if wanting to eat in as there was also knives and forks in a drawer. “Adele was friendly on arrival and sorted check in and parking permit promptly. Room itself was large and clean, reasonably quiet (room 3) in spite of having window open and being near moderately busy road. Bed fairly comfortable. In a good state of repair though decorated and furnished in a very dated style. Bathroom was very small. Shower needs a new hose, spraying most of the water at the wall.
