We had a great time at this hotel, but at check‑in we discovered that Expedia had double‑booked our reservation. That left us stuck with two separate bookings. The clerk told us we would need to speak with the manager, Franco.
After trying to reach Franco for three days, we finally managed to talk to him. He told us that if we had booked directly through the hotel, he would have refunded the extra charge immediately. But because the duplicate booking came through Expedia, he said we had to take it up with them.
So now, because of a software glitch on Expedia’s end, I’m out hundreds of dollars. After speaking with Expedia, I received a response—word for word—that contradicts what the hotel told me. So someone is lying: either the hotel manager or Expedia. Or they’re both assuming I won’t follow up.
They’re wrong. I will.

"Hello *****,
We’re following up regarding your request to adjust your reservation without penalty.
Request type: Refund request
Itinerary number: ****************
Property name: Grand Hotel Traian
After contacting the property, they’ve decided to uphold the original cancellation policy and have declined the refund request as it was double booking, and the hotel was not informed prior
We understand this may be disappointing. Hotels often have strict policies in place, and unfortunately, there’s nothing else we can do in this case.
Thank you for giving us the chance to assist.
Sincerely,
Nethravathi R
