This was the best hotel I ever stayed at. The breakfast was made to order with fresh fruit. The view of the ocean was beautiful. The room was large with thick towels and robes. The hot tub was big, clean and had a great view of the ocean.

I had an amazing experience at this hotel. The room was phenomenal— from the decor to the amenities to the view! The breakfast prepared by Chef Joseph every morning was delicious, and was the perfect beginning for every day. It was fresh and tasty. The Friday night dinner was also prepared with so much thought and intention, each plate was so yummy and presented beautifully. We also loved the hot tub, it was a nice way to end our evening after exploring Hawai’i. Next time in town I’ll be back!

The staff (Val) were excellent! The kitchen staff (chef, mixologist) and the 7-course meal were also amazing. The rooms, grounds and general locale was stunning. My only complaint is that the rooms are not adequately sound proofed. I could hear the TV from next door or the room above which affected my sleep.

Val was the GM there when we stayed and she did a great job with everything. She gave us local recommendations for things to do. The room had a beautiful view of the water. There is a little trail to walk to this secluded beach with breathtaking sunrises. They catered a very nice 7 course meal one night for the guest and it was delightful. It all felt like an upscale bed and breakfast. Great secluded getaway.

Almost a 10/10 Difficultly with transportation without a car Dinner at hotel when available was wonderful but otherwise need to be resourceful and comfortable to go with the flow (again without transpiration) as you cannot walk to anything, but also what makes it such a great place. Relaxed within minutes!! Val is fantastic

A Great Getaway

* It is so peaceful and quiet. The ocean can be heard, but is not overwhelming from loud crashing waves. * The chef prepared evening meal is awesome (7-courses)! * We are animal lovers, so we enjoyed the company of the resident dogs and cat. * We enjoyed the pool, hot tub, red light sauna, and the cold bath. * The breakfast was very good. We had special quiche (egg bites) prepared without dairy. Excellent! We would definitely stay here again!!!!

Beautiful view and property with a nice walk to the rock beach. Room is very nice. Water didn't work for one of the evenings which was unfortunate as the shower and bath were part of why we selected this location. Staff was as quick to fix it as they could... unfortunately running out of water is not an easy fix. I appreciate them responding quickly but not having running water for part of the stay knocks it down a bit.

We had the best time at Hamakua hotel. First, the manager was very accomodating and generous. The room was beautiful, big, clean, with big windows - so relaxing. And we had the chance to attend the surprise dinner on tuesday night. It was unbelievable. Truly, one of the best dinners in my life. We were amazed and so grateful. The Hamakua hotel is a pricey place to stay, but for the experience that we had, it was all worth it. Beyond expectations. We truly recommend it!
