Staff was incredible. They accommodated my mom's gluten free needs even though we did not provide that info before we arrived. They worked very hard to modify each dish and was about to give my mom the experience of wonderful traditional Japanese food without the gluten. They were so friendly and helpful. This is a nice smaller town with lovely canals and I would stay at this hotel again.

Basic rooms are 11m2 which is just a bit too small for a couple with bags for several weeks travel. Personally I was a little claustrophobic. It’s manageable but not great, our view was of a wall. But these APA hotels do have onsens and are well located and well cleaned and staffed.
