The staff went out of their way to ensure that we enjoyed our visit. The environment of hotel from the reception room to the restaurant was cheerful at all times. Breakfast was delicious and varied. From the minute they spotted us making our way to the hotel, the staff of the Grand Hotel du Lac did everything they could to give us a fabulous experience. They were warm, professional and efficient and served with their heart. The hotel is comfortable and well situated near the lake and old town. The breakfast is varied and delicious and the service was excellent. If you visit the rooftop bar, you must try the gin basil smash. It is amazing!

We initially stayed for a couple of nights. Our room didn’t have a door to the bathroom, just a curtain, which I didn’t like. We had a different room the second time we stayed (after an overnight cruise at Ha Long Bay) which did have a bathroom door so I would recommend putting in a request for a room with bathroom door if you like privacy. Overall a great hotel though, and good location. Breakfast options were great and we also had dinner one night which was also very good. Special mention to Grace on reception as she was extremely welcoming when we arrived, very helpful, and gave us some tips on what to do while we were in Hanoi. 10/10 service from Grace. Other staff members were also very friendly and I could not fault their service.
