This Clipper Boarding House in Hamburg is a great location near dining options, we loved the room(s) and multiple bathrooms. It was so pretty. Clean, and upgraded. It was walkable from the metro.

Check in was a bit burdensome, as it was automated and required documentation, such as passport. A tired traveler making their own keys and not being able to request special services or upgrades made this stay uncomfortable. I will not return.

Check in was fine but the room was not so clean and even after they came to clean the room it was still dirty the floors were so dirty you had to dust off your feet before getting into bed everytime! And pretty sure we had some dust mites bites on us

Overnight stopover.

This was a lovely one night stop near the Portuguese area of Hamburg. Easy to walk around and also easy to get lost. Room was lovely and spacious. Very clean. Staff friendly only issue was the language barrier. But you can work through that.

My warmest recommendations

My boyfriend and I went to Hamburg as a stop on our way to Amsterdam, but we were just blown away by Hamburg, greatly in part because of Clipper. Before arrival I had emailed with the staff about parking, and they sent me a QR code to scan at the garage upon arrival (this was awesome, as we didn't have to check in before parking). We had reserved an apartment with a little kitchen, and this worked great. We loved living in Hamburg for a few days and we felt so at home. You can check in with the number of key cards that you want. The placement i St. Pauli is safe and close to a big, neat Rewe (grocery store) and the habour which is great for walks and a habour tour. We unfortunately melted the plate cover for the microwave (by mistake) which the receptionist just laughed off with us and didn't even want us to pay for. We will be back at Clipper, that's for sure.

Good location. Near to public transport, cafes and restaurants. There is also a well stocked Rewe supermarket nearly. The bells sounding from St Michael's church can be a little annoying in terms of noise. Large, will presented room that was well furnished and supplied with crockery, cutlery etc. The room had a good sized fridge, a microwave/grill, electric stove top, a kettle, Nespresso machine, and a toaster. Larger mugs for tea would have been helpful. There were only really two items that fell short. The bed was on the firm side for my preference and all the pillows were saggy. The check in/check out process was reasonably straightforward although you do need to remember your booking reference number to make things a little easier. I would would happily stay there again.
