Good budget option close to downtown Halifax and the waterfront. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and had a fridge. The building is old and there is no elevator, but for the price it was a fair stay. It would be nice to have at least an electric kettle in the room.

Commons Inn needs a lot of work. It is quite run down. The positives were the excellent location close to good places to eat and also the willingness of staff to store luggage, but the room was really basic.

No parking at the property but luckily I found a spot within 2 blocks on the street. The room was small but , quite modern. The water in the shower was hot and the bathroom was clean. What really surprised me was the lack of tea or coffee for guests. When I asked at the front desk re coffee I was direct to a store across the stréet!

I was worried with all the bad reviews. They were over exaggerated, it’s obviously not 5 star but I was happy with the location and price. I inspected for bed bugs and saw no trace, water was hot with good pressure, bed was comfy, entertainment was a google cast. It was fine, I would book again if I needed to save money.

Price was fair. If it was just cleaned better it would have felt better. Our bed was comfortable and our shower was good. The room we got was nothing like the pictures advertised.

There was no coffee maker. The microwave was broken. The television didn’t work. The bed and bathroom were clean. We were on the second floor and there was no elevator so we had to carry heavy suitcases up the stairs.

The Commons Inn is a great place to stay if you are looking solely for a home base during your travels. The room was small with a bed, fridge and desk and that was all that would fit. The front desk staff were lovely and very accommodating. Great location and easy to access.
