Our stay at Mahana House was wonderful! Beautiful setting, room was clean, very comfortable bed and we had our own private lanai and small kitchen, as well as use of the common full kitchen, great room and lanai. Every possible thing we could have needed was available to us. It is obvious the owners put a lot of thought into our comfort. An easy 20 drive in to Hilo. Thank you, Mahana House, for a fabulous stay! I highly recommend!!!

The property grounds were beautiful and serene. We were so happy we chose this place outside the hustle and bustle of Hilo. The trip into Hilo was about 20 minutes, but the drive was beautiful and worth the peacefulness of the property. There were many sites to see within a few miles, such as Akaka falls and the Botanical Gardens.

We had a wonderful stay! The place was very nice, spotless, and well maintained. You can really tell the host puts a lot of care into the home. On top of that, the owner is an incredibly kind person who has adopted disabled cats — which honestly made the experience even more special. Such a big heart and genuine hospitality. Highly recommend staying here, and we would absolutely come back!

This was a perfect place to stay. The host couple are incredibly kind and caring. You can tell they truly put their heart into taking care of the whole property. The room was very clean and spacious. Everything was well prepared — TV, microwave, coffee, towels, extra blankets — all thoughtfully provided. The view from the balcony was beautiful. Occasionally, their rescued little cats would stop by to say hello, which made the stay even more special. This is definitely a place I would come back to again.

The cottage was absolutely lovely, clean and had great amenities - everything we could ask for. We stayed in the 2 bedroom cottage, which was up to date and decorated beautifully. The communication by the owners was tremendous from directions to recommendations on things to do. We found it so peaceful and loved sitting on the lanai enjoying the view of the ocean in the distance. I highly recommend it!

I like the property itself, it’s a small place a bit out of the beaten path but the room is pretty much an apartment and as there are only few rooms and a common area, feels ideal for 2 or 3 couples traveling together. Just be aware it’s a bit far from town
