Built on property purchased by German immigrant Johnathan Hager in 1739 the house was completed in 1740. It has 22 inch stone walls which offered protection from attack and the elements. Johnathan Hager would go on to run a trading post from this home. By 1745 he had purchased more land and become quite prosperous. He would sell this house to the Rohrer family, descendants of whom would live here until 1954 when the house was left to the City of Hagerstown. A city which is named after Johnathan Hagar, one of its first residents!
