Remote and rustic best describes the lodge. It’s 40 minutes from Golden. The lodge does require more than a little maintenance and some of the amenities just do not exist. So if you are expecting a restaurant and a spa, you should look elsewhere. Let’s talk about what is good. The view is spectacular. And the night sky is brilliant, you can easily see the milky way with the naked eye. The caretakers are not the owners. They are super helpful and doing the best they can with what they’re given. They built us a wonderful bonfire the night we arrived. If you’re hiking in the area or doing other outdoor activities and looking for a step up from camping this is a good option. Basically that’s what it is a step up from camping. Just like camping bring food and beer because it’s a drive into town.

It was alright. It’s like you’re camping with a safe place to stay. You should bring your own firewood otherwise they will charge you. But there is a lot of sticks and wood laying around you can use if you pick it up yourself. The power went out so we didnt have lights at night, but it was an adventure. I would go again later in the summer. It’s not a luxurious experience but if you’re adventurous and like to do random things you will have fun. The horses were not there yet. It was a 3/5 for me. The road on the way there was absolutely terrible and dangerous for 15 km but we survived. Just drive slow and pay attention on the dirt road.

Amazing location. We stayed in the main lodge, but there are separate cabins. The view of the nearby moutains is incredible. The lodge is off-grid, but they generate their own power. There is a river within walking distance. An artesian spring bubbles up from the parking area. The water in the area is blue from minerals. It's right in the heart of the Rockies near Golden, BC. It's well worth the visit. Staff is helpful and accommodating. We had a nice chat with the manager.

Our experience at this property was highly disappointing, and it did not live up to our expectations. The most alarming issue occurred in the middle of the night when a mouse jumped directly onto our bed, which is a severe pest control and sanitation concern. Furthermore, the house accommodates large groups but only had one functioning shower; the shower in the second bathroom was completely broken and out of order. The general cleanliness of the house was poor. The entire property feels old, deteriorated, and neglected—it has potential, but it is in desperate need of a total remodel and proper maintenance. I would not recommend staying here until major updates, deep cleaning, and better management practices are put in place.

I rated Beacerfoot Lodge very low because when we arrived the hot water tank was not working. We could NOT shower after a long day outdoors because the water must have been 0-5c. Unbearably cold!! Even brushing our teeth was so cold!! There was no heat in the lodge! After we arrived, they started the wood but the heat cannot reach our room because the fire place was so far from our room. One flight difference. We did not use the kitchen, because it was dirty and no running water. The person that worked there told me to request for a refund due to the circumstance and so I did except they would not answer the call from Expedia! So, we are disappointed! I think the total amount we spent was $150cdn dollars. I would have rather spent $300 to get a warm room and hot running water. I would NOT recommend this lodge. Expedia should really refund us the money since we booked with them even if Beaverfoot Lodge would not respond to Expedia’s call!! I feel ripped off!!

We knew this would be a no- frills place with a shared washroom and communal kitchen. However, I did expect to have a reasonably warm shower and electricity. We had neither. They only put on the generator intermittently (are we in a war zone?). Nice young girl greets us, but otherwise no staff seen. She mostly seems to sit on the porch on her phone. Place feels abandoned. So to be fair- pros: beautiful setting, close to Yo-Ho, cool old building, with LOTS of potential, bed reasonably comfortable and pretty clean. Dog friendly, cute resident cat. Kitchen offered use of appliances and dishes, silverware with generator Cons: grounds not maintained, shabby outbuildings, spotty electricity for our electric cooler for our food. Also no hot water at all- very lovely cold drinking water- not suitable for hygiene. Mosquitoes came in from holes in floor. We couldn’t sleep and were eaten alive. Room tiny- nowhere to put suitcase- dogbed took up the minimal floorspace. Our timid dog got attacked (not injured) by a loose dig on property. Would not recommend unless desperate.

At first, we felt like we were in a piece of immersive theatre; an off-grid disaster movie of sorts. There was no reception desk, just a series of tumbling down properties in a meadow, surrounded by woodland. We had to search for a member of staff - a young girl from Eastern Europe - who appeared non-plussed and only too happy that we should fend for ourselves. There was no hot water. The same girl told us, "The gas boiler is too dangerous to use." The only electricity was from a noisy generator which was switched off shortly after midnight until the following morning. Our exclusive use bathroom was nothing of the sort, having been used by a workman and a mother and child who had, I believe, some connection to the host. The place was infested with mosquitos, the lights flickered on and off and the open fire in the downstairs lobby filled the entire house with smoke. The kitchen/dining area had no running water and dirty plates and cutlery were left out overnight. In retrospect, I am surprised we made it through the night. The 17km unmade road that led to the property only served to heighten the sense of impending doom. Book if you are into cabin-in-the-wood style horror films. A shame, all in all, as the surrounding countryside is stunning and the main house - a historic wooden lodge - has charm and great potential.

The hotel is down a logging road 13 miles from the highway, as far as logging roads go it is in good shape. There is no restaurant at the hotel, so bringing your own food is a must. I did not stay at the hotel as I was travelling on a motorcycle and the prospect of travelling back down a logging road early in the morning was not appealing, so I returned to find another hotel that offered full service. I would say that Expedia could have laid out in more detail where the hotel was located as had I know it was that far down the beaten path I would not have booked it. On the outline of the hotel, it was indicated the hotel was close to the town.

There was only a bed and a table with a lamp on it in my room. Common bathroom. They shut the electric generator off at 12:00 am and was difficult to sleep without my CPAP machine working.
