This turned out to be a well run private hotel - i.e. not one of the major chains, but to a similar standard. The usual facilities were present, including fridge, microwave, kettle and hair dryer, with en suite bathroom. I read a negative review from some time back, but had no difficulty in December 2025. Breakfast involved getting 10% discount at the cafe (Poppins) across the road. It was also convenient for the train and bus stations.

Staff very helpful and welcoming. However the hotel is located next to the station in the centre of town with lots of late night noise from traffic/trains and also seagulls. The rooms are basic for the price. There is no air conditioning and the window has a small limited opening so whilst a small fan was provided this wasn’t adequate in the summer heat so we got very little sleep. There is a multi storey car park available in the shopping centre opposite which is well lit and a 5 - 10 min walk from the hotel out of hours. Much nearer in the days as accessible through the shopping centre. Free to park from 5pm-7am and hourly charges thereafter. Nice local cafe opposite (Poppins) for breakfast with 10% discount for hotel residents.

A gem! Check in smooth and speedy. The receptionist was lovely and polite. Beds are so comfy, clean rooms, fabulous shower and tea, coffee etc all in the room (we also had a fridge and microwave). Only downside is that it doesn't have double glazing, so it was a little noisy (forgot to take earbuds).

It’s right in the centre of town the Kingston walk car park is right opposite and is cheap for overnight parking the only thing it doesn’t have is wheelchair access my wife hurt her back after I had booked the hotel luckily she could manage to walk up 3 steps to get in but others might not be able to the staff were very good about it and moved us to a room were there were no stairs to use

Ok, but not good enough

The hotel’s proximity to the train station and the availability of a microwave oven are positive aspects. However, the lighting in the room is inadequate, especially near the door. Furthermore, the dark-colored carpet makes the room appear even dimmer. The room’s price is quite high, likely due to the Cheltenham Festival.
