The hotel was great, my girlfriend and I really enjoyed it, the manager creeped me out and was kind of a douche and there were a couple moments that kind of just made me uncomfortable because of him, otherwise would recommend it

This place was built in the late 1930's and nicely renovated. Each room has its own microwave and mini fridge. The manager, Ash, is the nicest guy in the world. I'd stay here again. The price does differ on Expedia app, than in person. In person, it's $15.00 cheaper.

Not too bad if you need a place to crash even for a few days! Close to some hiking trails. They do charge a refundable deposit of $40 at check in. Shower drain didn’t drain very well so while taking a shower the bottom filled with water a bit but then did eventually drain. Over all wasn’t bad

Horrible place to stay

The man at the counter definitely did not like people. He was rude to me and my daughter. I checked in and paid my 20 deposit. Went to the desk and asked him to give my daughter the room key as I was goi g to eat. He then told her she needed to give him a 20 cash deposit. Her baby was crying and he would NOT give her the key. Needless to say we drove 3.5 hours home that night because this man and the hotel was awful!!! I truly should be given back my money as we did not stay.

Good Location and Value

This motel is on the main road (US-60 or Ash Street) but was quiet during the holiday period. It is ideally situated near Hill Street, which goes into the historic district less than a mile away. Fast food is nearby, as is hiking at Round Mountain Park. El Rey is a self-described "vintage motor court" so looks the part outside. But the interior room was large enough, the bed mostly comfortable, the spacious shower always had hot water, and the wall heater worked well, with the usual humming. The large-screen TV operated fine, though we found that selecting channels and watching programs was overly-complicated. No critters wandering around, the room looked and smelled clean enough. The motel was communicative, messaging us any updates or questions before arriving. The young man at the front desk checked us in quickly and efficiently (note $40 refundable deposit). He had already turned on the fridge/microwave/heater for us, and provided a couple extra pillows when we asked. We appreciated all that. We've stayed in Globe before, it has enough charm and activities around that an older lodging offering good value is sufficient for budget travelers. You might get more if you pay more elsewhere but we would still stay at El Rey again.

The staff was very friendly. Unfortunately, the floors were dirty in our room. Not only that but if someone was walking in the room next to you, you can hear it. The kid next to us kept running around all night and it sounded like someone was pounding on the walls just from them running. It was the worst nights sleep I've ever had in a motel. I can say that ill never stay here again.

Not Fancy, but Clean and Comfy!

Doesn't look like much, no drills and lace, it it's clean and comfortable. The man that owns the place is very attentive to the guests needs, very nice guy.

Praticamente molto poco curato, 2 piccoli cuscini su un letto King senza testiera, 2 miseri asciugamani e nemmeno bianchi come dovrebbero vedere, mancanza di un appoggio per il necessaire da bagno… insomma malgrado il manager sia stato gentile la camera non valeva assolutamente il prezzo pagato. Viaggiamo spesso e basta poco per far diventare una camera accogliente, questa non lo era. Senza entrare in ogni dettaglio era tutto un po’ rappezzato. Non prenoteremmo di nuovo in questa struttura.

I've stayed in cheaper and for a lot nicer. I'm all for budget motels but this one was awful. Very dingy, small rooms,hard beds. Dirty, dirty, dirty. I'm surprised I didn't get bed bugs BUT the bed was the cleanest thing in the room. It was unsafe and very dirty premises. As a solo traveler I was afraid to leave my room at night due to the people living there.

Worth It!

Traveling on a motorcycle got caught in bad weather coming out of Phoenix. Was able to secure a room here very quickly. Manager provided a covered parking area for my Harley and was very accommodating. The motel looks a little worn down but the stay is very well worth it! I will stay here again.
