Very Good

We loved everything about our stay. The staff was exceedingly accommodating. The ambience was top notch throughout. Food was excellent and it was the best value we received on our three week trip. If you are going to be in the Milngave area, this is absolutely worth the 10 minute drive.
Clean room, really good breakfast and plenty of it. The restaurant has two sections one is for quality bar food and the other is Italian, we ate in the Italian which was very good.
We have vowed that we will be back again.
A quaint inn with an excellent restaurant. But, what really made the stay pleasant was the staff who are friendly and who made this a great place to stay
Kirkhouse Inn was a great place to stay. Certainly an inn built in the 1600’s will have its quirks, as the Kirkhouse did, but it was quiet, comfortable, and very cute. The two restaurants downstairs are fabulous as well. Definitely would stay again.
Convenient for John Muir Way. Nice restaurant with friendly staff.

Good food. Having been here before for lunch we decided to return for dinner and stay the evening. Food was excellent, rooms rather dated and require upgrading but clean and functional.

Disappointingly the TV and internet did not work inDeluxe Suite we booked. We were offered a down graded the room next door which had not been renovated and accepted it. Unfortunately the internet did not work again and we could not turn off the heated towel rail that was too hot to touch. Asked twice to have it either turned down or off but this was not followed up. Also found the room to be very noisy with traffic, patrons leaving the bar and could hear tge guests on the adjoing room. Although we received an appolgy for our room not having the facilities we booked, we were not offered any form of compensation. So we paid premium price for a lower class room. The staff were all wonderful and pleasant. Had breakfast on one morning of our 2 day stay and thought it was over priced as I got only 1 rasher of bacon. We decided not to purhase breakfast on our 2nd/last morning. Had both night meals at Kirkhouse Inn and found them reasonably priced. Unfortunately the accommodation was not value for money.
What a great find. The downstairs of the hotel has been upgraded and was cost, tasteful, excellent service from friendly staff. We had the 6 course tasting menu for dinner which surpassed all expectations. The restaurant for Sara by Sanjay was beautifully decorated and each course was sublime. Service was exceptional and overall atmosphere really lovely. Hotel in process of upgrading bedrooms and will all be lovely when complete. We will be back - brilliant stay and would definitely recommend.

Great restaurant, however the inn was a bit worn down, the blanket on the couch was dirty. NO WIFI.
Minor hiccup at reception which was resolved very quickly to everyone's satisfaction. Nice, clean rooms, very friendly, helpful staff and breakfast was lovely. I
Lovely old Inn. Fabulous food, amazing staff - so warm and friendly and helpful. As it is a very old Inn it does not have the best soundproofing but it was quiet from 11-7. Also recommend that people be able to add tips on the machine as us foreigners don't often have cash on hand. Felt terrible not being able to tip staff for their awesome service! Matt the manager is a gem!

Not a great experience we left early
We booked here as a it was dog friendly. We are responsible dog owners and always make sure we leave the room tidy. When we entered the room it was clear it hadn’t been properly cleaned from the previous guests. There was a layer of dog hairs inside the wardrobe and throughout the room which was before I had even brought my dogs in. The shower screen was full of limescale and there was soap inside the bathtub with hairs on it. They knew a child was coming but no bed was made up for him. We had paid for 2 nights but left after 1 as my partner was unwilling to stay another night

Lovely hotel
Lovely place, very clean and comfortable rooms. We had a a bit of an issue at check in, we had booked a family room which turned out to be a double bed and a trundle bed which they brought up. The trundle bed was not fit for purpose really, it didn't look safe to sleep on. Couldn't fault the staff or the manager though, they were very helpful and made sure to try and resolve the issue for us straight away.
The bar and restaurant area of the hotel is lovely, it was really cosy and relaxing. We had dinner in the restarant both nights we stayed and all the meals were were great, couldnt fault any of it.
Would recommend this hotel but just be wary if you are booking a family room as it is not actually family room that you are getting.

Suite was tasteful but a little worn - in bathroom in particular. The shower took easily 10 mins to heat up. Was on the brink of giving up when it began to heat up. Didn't like having an overloaded extension in the room.
The young guys working in the dining room were terrific -friendly, polite and professional. Ross handled an issue with our booking immediately. Food was very good. I would return.
This is our 3rd stay at this property and were delighted to get a an upgraded room - it was big with a large couch and coffee table in addition to a double bed. It looked as if it had been recently upgraded. It had a great view of the hills and the car park was close to the main door. On the down side the room was directly above the bar which was very lively and there did not appear to be any sound proofing, however the noise stopped soon after 11pm. The bathroom was big with an over bath shower which had adequate but not great water pressure, it took a wee while to get the water to the correct temperature. There were multiple internet repeater stations in the corridor leading to the bedrooms with one just outside our bedroom door, however we were unable to connect to the guest wifi. The repeater outside our door was occasionally blue but mostly orange, the others in the corridor were blue. We did report this to reception but he just said we should be able to connect, however we couldn't. On previous visits we had booked breakfast and it was very good, this time when we asked about breakfast it was going to be £17.50 per head which we were not prepared to pay.
An amazing hotel, facilities, staff really friendly, going above and beyond our expectations.
A great example of a family run hotel very warm and inviting.
Highly recommend this hotel to family and friends.
When we arrived we found some niggly problems, no bin supplied in bedroom for general waste, hot water tap loose and heating was only small electric radiator. Breakfast menus were not supplied initially when seated which cause a problem on the second day, we weren’t made aware that if you had porridge to start there would be extra charge for cooked breakfast, this wasn’t the case last year when we came.
By Hotels.com how can they are doing business I really don't understand, it's totally cheating with the customer, and hotels.com definitely losing it's dignity and goodwill by those kind of business. It was a tent in a open space, but it was shown a five star rated hotel and photographs of a hotel room and beds shown before booking.
