We have stayed in more than 50 great hotels over the past 5 years. The Arthouse Hotel is going to be one of our most memorable. We really enjoyed our stay. The hotel opened in May after extensive renovations. The hotel used to be home to former UK Prime Minster (1905-1908) Henry Campbell-Bannerman. Stepping onto the main elevator feels like you stepping back in time - with all of the modern conveniences. We stayed for three nights. Our room had 20 foot floor to ceiling curtains. Stained glass windows. We were pleasantly surprised by the large (by European Standards) bathtub. The staff were very approachable and quick to respond to our needs. The hotel is centrally located and only a 5-10 minute walk to the Buchanan Bus Station if you are planning on going on any tours. We will definitely try to stay again next time we are in Glasgow. Great value. Money well spent.

Great location! Really nice hotel, the stair and lift lobby are so cool and well restored! Staff we nice. We didn't spend much time in the hotel as we were at the commonwealth games. Bed and bedding was comfy. Air con worked well. Only marked it down because inside the room there was only a tiny metal table for the tea and coffee and the side tables for the bed were so low. Basically there wasn't a decent surface in the room. We had trouble with the TV. The channels didnt work and the casting didn't work. Wasn't too bothered as we were there much. Would be good to get an additional sound proof on the window but I appreciate the windows are huge! The noise from the pub on the corner was annoying but it's a city centre so noise expected!

First overnight as a couple since having a baby, so we wanted something special. First thing we noticed was the building itself. Absolutely stunning doesn’t do this justice, the quality of the decor, the smell on entering (reception were very knowledgeable about the fragrances used), and the lounge were all lovely and very serene. Check in was really smooth and on explaining the reason for our stay we were instantly upgraded and given a lovely bottle of Cremant, without asking. Such a genuinely lovely gesture. The hallway / stairway / lift is INCREDIBLE. Honestly worth the stay just to see this. They’ve done an amazing job restoring this building. It is just stunning. Our room was immaculate and we loved the arty touches, as well as the chocolate (handmade in Glasgow) and stickers. The bed was massive and quite possibly the comfiest hotel bed I’ve ever slept in. WiFi was fast and easy to connect to as well. The room felt like it had been considered, it wasn’t just a carbon copy like most chain hotels, and equally it wasn’t full of old second hand furniture. It was basically just really cool. Worth noting that the hotel has a discount for the Q Park literally across the street, we got 24h parking for about the cost of 2.5 hours on the street, which saved us buses and trains and made the whole thing effortless. The location is central to pretty much anything city centre, and we walked to Finnieston in about 15 mins. A lovely stay and lovely memory.

Pros: The rooms were clean and the staff were very kind. The beds were comfortable. Appeared newly renovated. Cons: the rooms had a smell (we think from the paint) and we had to sleep with the windows open - which is not ideal in a city. We changed rooms after the first night, but the smell was the same. Maybe it will dissipate after some time?

I stayed here for three nights. It’s well located in the city centre, and a good central location. Good room, friendly staff on arrival too. They replenished bottled water in my room each morning, which was a nice touch.

The hotel and our room were both immaculate. The room and bathroom were both spacious and beautiful, with a large, deep bathtub. We appreciated the hand cream. Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The air conditioning was perfect. The hotel is centrally located. The only thing I would change is the wording about parking (on Expedia). The hotel is advertised seemingly as a rare gem with parking included, but it’s actually a car park across the street that offers a 30% discount off their hefty fee (I’m not complaining, the discount was appreciated). We wished we could have stayed longer and will definitely stay here again in the future! Thank-you!

First the good: - staff couldn’t have been more helpful. Sarah in particular tried everything (including turning off use boxes!) to solve some issues - hotel decor is really lovely. The lounge area is really quiet and relaxing. One of the nicest I’ve seen to be honest Now the bad: - the aircon in the room was simply rubbish. We are in Scotland, hardly the Caribbean for temps and yet we couldn’t sleep with the duvet at all as it was so hot even with the aircon on 17c and max! - the carpets on the room are unpleasant to walk on. They are made of coir and being brand new are sharp and prickly on bare feet. No rugs or slippers provided either. Not nice. - no fridge in the room is disappointing. - the family rooms have just a single seat that’s not part of the sofa bed. Given most family rooms are going to be using the sofa as bed it can’t be used for seating! There was plenty of space in our room for more chairs etc. Another miss. - the bedside lights can’t be turned on individually so I ended up trying to read a book with a phone torch so as not to disturb my partner - the door lock only unlocks while you have the keycard against it so you need to open to door at the same time requiring both hands. Annoying if you are carrying anything! The short story is that if a hotel can’t get even the basics right then the fact it looks pretty ceases to matter. Style over substance. I can’t imagine anyone tried staying in the rooms to see if they work at all.
