Cleaning excellent, balcony with lovely view of Algeciras Bay. Waiters not really on the ball sometimes ignoring one. Other staff fairly good rapport. Breakfast below average, not as good as one expects from a hotel with this reputation (e.g. bacon overcooked, fried eggs 'not available').

All of the staff were very helpful and considerate. The food was very nice, and there was a reasonable choice of dinner menu. The breakfast was very good with an ample choice. Very pleasant being able to have dinner and breakfast on the restaurant veranda, even though there was some noise from the road. The lounge area was comfortable. The view across the bay was most enjoyable both in the day light and after sunset when all the lights on the ships and places on the other side of the bay came on. The only criticism was there was not enough light in my room as all the lamps were one side of the room. There were none on the side of the desk.

This hotel is iconic and you really feel it throughout the property. Nostalgia is high. Food was good. We had Sunday dinner and it was delightful. Even the bar food was high standard. Two slight downsides - found a dirty sock under the bed when we were leaving, which made us wonder how well it was cleaned. And the shower pressure was not great. Wife with long hair had trouble washing it. To be fair to hotel, we only advised them of this when we left so don’t know if they could have fixed and it didn’t impact our stay much.
