The best thing about the House of Edward was its location. Step away from the entrance are you are right in the center of Ghent's most beautiful sights.

The location was great and the beds absolutely amazing! For that we would definitely stay again. The studio was light and spacious, could do with a more thorough clean (behind the tv!) and the kitchen amenities could be improved (we had 2 bowls, no plates, no kettle, no bin) Overall a good place and will be back. Thanks.

What a wonderful little hotel! It is very close walking distance (2 minutes) to the old city center, with lots of wonderful restaurants, and an easy 5-minute walk to the tram that takes you to the train station for easy traveling around. The room itself is beautiful, and the bed is very very comfortable - especially the amazing feather pillows!! Perfect after a long day of walking! The owners were very responsive and made the self check-in and -out very convenient. We will definitely stay here again next time we’re back!

Perfect location and really nice staff, but maintenance and cleanliness are extremely poor. We bought disposable dishes so we wouldn't have to use theirs. White socks on the floor turned black in no time.

Narrow, steep, winding staircase - very difficult to lug suitcases up to the room (we are over 75 years old!) top floor hand railing a bit loose which added to the risk. I dropped something under the bed and in retrieving it, found that the floor under the bed had not been swept (or maybe never was).

Our stay was not very good at the House of Edward. First, we received no codes to enter the property, and had to call 3 times to get through to someone. Once we finally reached a real person, they did send us the codes, but it took well over an hour to sort it out. The room had some nice features -- including a nice outdoor terrace, and a large comfortable bed, but it was not that clean. And, the kitchen lacked basic items such as dish towels, paper towels and a sponge. And, the shampoo dispenser in the shower was completely gone, and the conditioner dispenser was empty and didn't work anyway! We could hear people going up and down the stairs until at least 4am. And, there was a mouse that scampered across the floor when I turned on the light. Also, on Expedia, it states there is "parking available." What that translates into is a parking lot in front of the hotel that requires you pay every 5 hours outside the hours of 11pm and 9am. We were about 30 minutes late when we went to dinner, and ended up with a 40E ticket! And, if you have one of the upper floors, make sure you know there is no lift/elevator -- and the stairs are quite steep and narrow. I'd never stay here again -- I'd opt to book the Ghent River Hotel, right across the square.

Die Unterkunft war gut zu finden, allerdings haben wir keine Info vorab bekommen, wie wir in die Unterkunft kommen. Der Müll im Schlafzimmer wurde nicht geleert und es war noch Müll vom Vorgänger drin. Generell hötte es sauberer sein können. Die Lüftung in der Küche lief nonstop und nervt nachts teilweise, da die es auch keine Türe gab. Die Lage ist super und auch die Größe war mehr als ausreichen. Es hätte nur sauberer sein können.

Accueil désagréable : l’interphone sonne sans repondre 3 fois. Il faut appeler au téléphone pour tomber sur une personne qui vous explique que vous avez réservé la mauvaise année avant de vraiment chercher votre réservation. L’eau chaude a duré précisément 3 minutes avant de devenir glaciale.

Nous avons eu un petit problème pour recevoir notre code d’accès à la propriété. Nous avons contacté les propriétaires et ils nous ont répondu très rapidement. La chambre était très propre, par contre le réfrigérateur ne fonctionnait et les ustensiles de cuisine ne sont pas nombreux. Nous avons tout de même passé un bon séjour.

Geen reactie op schriftelijke verzoeken of we 1 uur vroeger konden inchecken. Je krijgt ook niet vooraf je code om de deur te openen, je moet het bedrijf bellen als je bij de deur staat - alleen Engels sprekende medewerker aan de lijn. Appartement was nog niet klaar op afgesproken tijd, half uur moeten wachten. Dan binnen problemen met code van de deur van het appartement, pas na 15 minuten opgelost Maar goed Eenmaal binnen: mooie, ruime en lichte kamer. Netjes schoongemaakt. Er ontbraken helaas wel een mes en bord in de kitchenette. Maar verder prima. Ook zeer centraal gelegen,, vlak bij winkels, bars en restsurants

Ligging was uitstekend. Wij hadden een kamer met terras. In de eerste instansie zag het er allemaal top uit. Maar er hing een constante verschrikkelijke indringende geur waar we onpasselijk van werden.Later kwamen wij erachter dat het muizenpis moet zijn geweest aangezien we s'nachts de muizen hoorden.

Como positivo: el estudio está muy bien situado, muy cerca de la zona atractiva de Gante. Es amplio con una vista a la terraza-patio del mismo, agradable.Tiene una cocina incorporada a un armario y espacio para estar, suficiente. Cama cómoda y muy grande. Como negativo : No me enviaron con antelación información fundamental. Tener que llamar por teléfono ante la misma puerta del establecimiento para que te den el código resulta un incordio porque tienes que abrir las puertas al dictado y cuando estás dentro volver a llamar porque lo olvidaste.Tampoco información sobre el wifi. Nueva llamada? También noté cierta dejadez en la limpieza, microondas sucio, y vajilla sin secar.

abgewohnt und dreckig

Das "House of Edward" liegt optimal mehr oder weniger direkt am Vrijdagmarkt (unter dem man auch parken kann), also im Herzen des historischen Gent. Es ist modern eingerichtet - hat allerdings die besten Zeiten hinter sich. Die Möbel sind bestoßen und recht abgewohnt, die Kaffeemaschine verliert Wasser und überschwemmt den Boden und obwohl Schüsseln, Teller und Tassen für Selbstverpflegung bereitstehen, fehlt es an Besteck. Grundsätzlich ist auch die Reinigung nicht besonders gründlich. Am schlimmsten aber war der Zustand der Dusche. Nach nur 20 Sekunden steht man knöcheltief im Wasser (ein Zeichen, dass sie offensichtlich über Wochen nur 15 Sekunden gereinigt wurde - sonst hätte das Housekeeping das ja bemerkt). Auf der Suche nach der Ursache haben wir ein großen Haarbüschel aus dem Abfluss entfernt - das aber hat das Problem auch nicht gelöst - die Verschmutzung scheint also viel größer zu sein. Die Kommunikation des Hotels ist schwierig, der Zugangscode wird nicht automatisch versendet, außerdem fehlt es an grundsätzlichen Informationen zu Check-In und Check-Out oder an touristischen Infos, wie man es in einer Stadt wie Gent erwarten würde. Ein Telefonat mit dem Manager/Betreiber verlief extrem seltsam. Als wir anmerkten, dass wir unter den Umständen sicher nicht wiederkommen werden, entgegnete er, wir könnten ja gerne unsere zukünftigen Buchungen stornieren - auch eine Haltung, mit unzufriedenen Gästen, die auf Missstände hinweisen, umzugehen...

Great studio loft in convenient location. Nearby parking stations made ut easy. Room on 3rd floor needed 48 stairs, last set very narrow, so not convenient if heavy luggage. Main letdown was lack of detail to servicing. Only one coffee mug, no coffee, one glass and only one fork. When texted agent, they were quick to rectify.
