I had requested a room with a bathtub in a quiet section of the property and they were able to place me in unit #1, which was perfect! In addition, the restaurant was open for dinner and the chef made me a tiger roll (sushi) and low mein (all fresh vegetables and noodles) It was soooooo good! The hotel was close to the beach. The section where the cross is. Where Hwy 87 ends. It was perfect in every way. I have stayed there 3 times now and would book again. :-)

A/C worked perfect. The room was very clean. Staff welcomed us like we were family. I've stayed here several times and will continue to. Our pet was welcomed at a very low charge.

Gulfway Motel & Restaurant was a very nice place to stay. The outside looked average of a motel that age. However, the room was clean. Lighting was great. The bed was really comfortable. All in all, we will stay there again on our next visit to High Island, Texas on the Bolivar Peninsula.

High Island is not an upscale area and this is the only motel and restaurant there. You are staying there for the birding. The hotel is old but it’s clean and everything works. The restaurant has an amazing selection of Chinese food that is very well prepared.
