Caledonian Hotel, Fort William
Wonderful staff. Lovely reception, bar and dining areas. Great view over loch from bar area. Room clean, but showing signs of wear and tear.
I stayed one night. Check in and check out was quick. The breakfast was good. The property is a bit old but it's clean.

4 star pricing with 2 star service
The first room had a bad smell (dog) as we entered however we were quickly offered another room which was OK however we felt for the price being charged the room was not value for money. The dining experience was terrible, the restaurant offered a reasonable selection of main courses however there was no option fro dairy free and when this was asked for we were offered a menu which basically had items removed and there was no provision to provide any options. Ironically we found the bar menu was actually quite good with options that would have been acceptable but we were not offered this at the time.
Scaffolding blocking the mobility ramp. Had to climb about 8 entrance steps helped by my husband. 8 more steps to reception desk with a broken chair lift. 8steps down again to get the lift to our room. Long walk to our room. Room not spacious.
Breakfast time, supervising member of staff was asked for a mug since I have a hand tremor. I cannot use a cup. She said she had none. My husband said that there were mugs in our room. She told him to go and get one!! Very rude!! This was the worst and most expensive hotel in our holiday of 15 separate stays. Very disappointed.
