totally disappointing

I am surprised this hotel is even available on line it should be inspected!, We arrived late in the night and had already paid so had no other choice but stay. We slept on top of the bedcovers completely dressed for fear of bugs.The room was dirty, unkept, and broken furniture. But the worst of all was the bathroom, mold and dirt covered the walls and tub enclosure! We spent a month travelling in Florida, staying in hotels and this was the worst and funny how it was the most expensive!

Great staff, but hotel was very run down. AC in room was the box type, and could not kept the room cool. all linens had bad orders. I have stayed in better hotels at half the cost. I would rather sleep on the street then stay here again.

never again

first room was 84 degrees when i arrived. i set the a/c for 76, left for 2 hrs and upon return found the cb had popped. i reset, had dinner out & returned after 4 hrs. room had cooled to only 81/ i was unable to use internet due to week signal. in the a.m. the room had finallt cooled to 78. tv did not receive more that 6 local chanels & no remote. on site mgr agreed to a refund for 2nd night's pre-paid room, but when talking with hot.com denied any fault or refund. the 2nd night assigned a room with internet availabilty & an a/c that worked, but only with twin beds altho i booked a king. room fixtures were trashy = doors of vanity falling off hinges, empty light, live light sockets, bare light fixtures, headboard of bed laying against the wall on the floor, a/c cord streatched across the bed because it was too short...

Bahia Beach a dos cuadras de la playa

La ubicación muy buena, pero es un hotel sólo para dormir y no estar allí demasiado tiempo. Es un hotel precario, descuidado, no hay servicio de limpieza, no hay nadie que te reciba ni que despida al ingresar y salir del hotel, dicen que es una zona muy segura y es por eso que dejan sola todo el día la recepción. Tiene una vista hermosa.

Working class hotel

I wouldn't say this is the best in Ft. Lauderdale but it's not the worse. If you are looking for a no-frills place to stay that's close to the beach, this is the place. The manager is great and goes out of his way to help you. Great also for families heading to cruise terminal (only 5 minute drive...)

Provisional recommendation

After reading other reviews, I booked a room here because it was 2 blocks away from where my family was staying. I new what to expect, and it was actually a little worse that I expected. I brought my own sheets, pillow, blankets and towels. Luckily I was driving there. I wore my shoes or flip flops at all times. The bath tub did not empty very well, so I was ankle deep in water whenever I took a shower. No towel rack. Extremely dirty and mildew all over the shower. I was literally only there to sleep and take a shower in the morning. Has a nice kitchen with full refrigerator and large stove and sink area. No real utensiles to use. The manager/owner was very nice and friendly, but this place is very old and has not been updated or even repaired in years. The pool is there, but not usable. Full of greenish water. web site says there is a continental breakfast -- not so. There is not even anyplace to offer breakfast. The original office is boarded up and the "new office" is in a cubbyhole in front of the hotel. One plus is free parking. The big hotels around the corner wanted to charge $19 per day just for parking the car. This hotel worked OK for me because I spent most of my my time with family at a fancy hotel around the corner. It was fairly cheapt and you get what you pay for. BUT -- bring your own sheets, towels and blankets. I KNOW the sheets were not changed from the last tenant, and probably a few tentants before that.

Horrible service with roaches

As soon as I arrived to the hotel, I was told previously that when I arrived at the hotel I should go straight to my room and find my door unlocked and the key inside. I went in and there were stains everywhere on the walls and there were bugs crawling all over the place. It was disgusting. When I walked out to go to the front desk, there was no front desk and I left to go try and find a Hilton available room since it was already 1 AM since my flight got in late. The next day, the guy told me that I should have just called the number. How was I supposed to know that? Any decent hotel has a front desk to go to in case of issues or problems with the room. I would not recommend this place to ANYONE. This was a horrible experience.

Not the best

Pros: Very nice location! The beach is right across the street. Very nice area. I liked having the fridge in the room. Very nice staff!! Free parking and internet. Very spacious room Cons: Bad plumbing.. the two sinks would get clogged one worse than the other and it smelled very bad.. the bathtub also clogged a little... We only got 2 towels and when I asked for a third one was basically told that we only get two and that we can use them more than once. I was fine using them more than once but was upset when I asked for a third one and was told no The fridge still had old soda bottles and trash in it when we arrived Because of our tight budget and because we weren't in our room very much this place worked for our trip this year. The location and staff were great but I dont think I would stay here again because of the plumbing issues and cleanliness

Do not go to this hotel unless you have to

The hotel is very run down. It looks like it used to be an efficiency apartment building in the 60's and has not been touched since. The plaster is falling from the ceiling and there are holes in the walls. All furniture and linens are mismatched and soiled. I kept waiting for cockroaches and rats to cross the floor. Thankfully I didn't see any. The only good things were the location and while the room was very dated and the sheets/towels were old, they seemed to be clean. Also, it was a large room with kitchenette and balcony. I wouldn't go back unless I really needed to get a room in that location and nothing else was available.

Hole in the wall

This motel had 2 stars, it should have had zero. It was totally unpleasant and disappointing from the start. The clerk/maintenance man/owner was nice, but that didn't help the fact there was no TP, a dead bug in the bath, no heat, etc etc etc.

Recommendation is highly conditional Bahia Beach

The only way I could recommend this hotel is with the understanding that it is a CHEAP place to stay. We were on a low budget and preferred to spend our money on recreation rather than accommodations. The owner was very nice, and when we requested things he took action. He locked up our luggage for us before check in and after check out, which was really above and beyond what you would expect in this type of lodging. But guests should be prepared. The floors were mopped while we were there but were still dirty. The headboard had fallen off the wall and the water backed up in the shower. The towel rack was also off the wall. We had to ask for towels and toilet paper. I read another review that said almost the exact same thing, so I had to wonder if all the rooms have the same problems or if I wound up in the same room as the other reviewer. If you are a light sleeper, you probably want to go elsewhere. Also, it would be prudent to bring towels and sheets if you have the space. KEEP IN MIND, this was what I expected going into it, so we didn't care. Others might be upset by these conditions.

Most disgusting place I ever stayed!

This hotel is disgusting. It is filthy, fawcets leaking all night, stains on couch, rust all over the bathtub, only one towel provided and it had a blood stain on it! Cracks in the walls, at all joints, holes in walls, doors about to fall off. This place was disgusting and I didn't want to touch anything. No clock, no remote for the TV. The AC was a window unit and the bed was placed with the pillow directly in front of the AC unit. The check in was at a table in a stairwell. Extremely horrible experience. I didn't think places like this were even allowed to exist.

stay away!!!

As we pulled up my first impression was oh no ,well i was right no front desk a small office to check into but man in small office very nice.room had 3 towels no wash clothes....ok but that night it rained and it leaked in from the walls inches of water on floor there goes our 3 towels had to call nice man cause he left his office for the night was told to use my towels ,already did!!! I need more yea he was nice enough to drive back and bring 4towels so we could soak up water great still no towels to shower! no hairdryer like add said ther was. Night 2 fire alarm at 1a.m woke me up out of sound sleep guess what no fire. stay away pay 20 bucks more go elsewhere

You get what you pay for.

It was as expected for the price we paid. I would only have two complaints, there was mold in the bathtub area and the power went out for awhile on Sunday. This hotel has no backup generator which meant no air conditioning while it was over 94 degrees outside. Other then those two things it was fine. It is a place to sleep, rest, and shower before heading back out. This is not a room to spend some quality R&R with your loved one. It is also very conveniently about a block's walk away from beach. Also very quiet.

Excellent location and a good deal for the price!!!

Hotel has an excellent location : very close to the beach, water taxi, Jungle Queen Cruise departure point and within about 10-15 minutes from the restaurants and bars. Building itself is old but has spacious rooms with large balconies. Floors have ceramic tiles which is a better idea for summer time than a carpet. WI- FI only works on the balconies because of the very thick walls but if you are not going to use internet a lot this is a very good choice for a reasonable price.
