“First time in a pod as we normally go abroad in 5 star hotels but this time we wanted the kids to experience some adventure and of course save some money. We are not campers so we took a gamble at a bit of glamping. This place was perfect for us, we didn't want for anything and anything we needed was in the little shop at reception. We want to do the same thing in wales when the kids are better at walking longer distances hopefully it's half as good as this place. Thanks”

“I generally stay in 4–5 star accommodation, and based on the website description and previous reviews, I expected Hay’s Wood Retreat to fall into that category. Unfortunately, the standard of the lodge did not match the ‘luxury’ billing — in my assessment it was closer to a solid 3-star property. If you’re used to genuinely high-end accommodation, I’d recommend tempering your expectations regardless of the marketing or other reviews you may have read. It’s a perfectly adequate stay, but...
