Misty Trail Overlook on Blue Ridge Parkway

My family and I stayed in this motel, which is right before an entrance ramp to the Blue Ridge Parkway, on our way to Richmond Virginia to see the 2015 World Championship of Men's Cycling. This motel was a little rundown but had a simple charm to it. These types of lodgings heydays are long behind them. The road shown is also very weathered. Appalachia has garnered the stereotype of being rundown because of poverty, and this photo reinforces this idea. This also challenges the idea (my idea) of the region being frozen in time, this motel’s wooden lattice sign design is dated. #appalachianechoes
