If you visit Exmouth and the Ningaloo Reef in Western Australia between May and August you've got a great chance to see humpback whales as they migrate north from the Antarctic. We were incredibly lucky enough to be snorkelling during a whale shark encounter trip when a humpback and its calf swam past within two metres of us. The Vlamingh Head Lighthouse is located 17 km north of Exmouth. The Lighthouse overlooks Lighthouse Bay and you can watch the sun rise and set. The Lighthouse was built in 1912 and stands on the northernmost tip of the Cape Range.
