Really nice place, great food, staff very friendly stayed for business so could not really explore but the view of the river in the morning was very pretty. Wifi not so great.
Had an accident while staying but staff looked after me, we had to stay an extra night due to the fact I had bad concussion black & blue all over husband had no sleep everyone was so concerned they are so wonderful they didn’t charge us for the extra night, bless them how sweet they are to do that. I would definitely recommend & go back again, only thing they need to fit a lift in somehow but property is back to the 1600,s. so lovely there, wood burnt fire makes it so cozy. Thank you for what you did for us, I’ll never forget big hugs to you all, xxx
It all worked as intended. The postcode and business name found the Inn on our GPS but the postal description and websearch did not identify that Sutton Gault is some 10 miles away from Ely. It would be better if the actual village of location rather than the postal town be used .
Hotel personnel are very welcoming. One of the plus points about this hotel is the food! You quickly understand why they are figuring in the Micheline guide, their food is awesome!
A one night visit which was really comfortable and enjoyable. Staff were welcoming. We had chosen a small double so the ensuite was not spacious but adequate. The water pump is noisy but didn’t bother us. Fresh milk for teas/ coffees in the room was appreciated. The highlight was the evening meal - really delicious in every course. A good breakfast too.

This is a centuries-old inn that's been loving restored and preserved. They appear to do a brisk mid-level food and bev trade, although I didn't partake. My room was cozy and snug. The furnishings seemed a little battered, and my only window overlooked the kitchen and service bays -- a lot of noise until 1:00 am, which is not expected out in the country. But overall, a nice venue.
A very warm and friendly pub. We enjoyed an excellent dinner - which was also very reasonably priced - and an equally good breakfast in the morning. The room was spacious, very comfortable bed and had everything we needed.
Thoroughly recommended!
Very comfortable clean room with up to date facilities including excellent coffee/tea making with a cafetiere as well! Breakfast was delicious. Beautiful setting.
We thought it was going to be in Ely itself but the location was a total surprise - really fantastic. In the countryside at the edge of a picturesque village. The interior was quaint 17th century. The dinner was outstandingly good. Good menu too. All the staff were so friendly and helpful. Couldn't be better.
A charming place, in a quiet, out of the way location, just outside Sutton-On-The-Isle, which the signpost says is "Village of the Year, 2002". The check-in was nicely informal, the room was clean and welcoming, with plenty of tea & coffee making facilities.
The breakfast was top class, too.
Lovely spot... I have a new favourite place to stay in the Fenland area.
Thank you!

Pleasant inn by river
The eating area is very cosy and has a nice atmosphere and the food is excellent.
However, if your booking a night, make sure you book a front room overlooking the river.
We were staying 2 nights and the first night we were in a small back room looking over a flat roof, from which a fan noise kept us awake. After mentioning this to the staff the next day we were moved to a front room that happened to be available. This was a bigger and better room with no noise and a pleasant view.

Lovel rural setting by the river/canal .
Everything was ok no complaints. Breakfast was not as good as the menu suggested.
Just overnight, but discovering fresh milk and bottles of water provided in a small fridge in the room, plus a teapot and cafetière instead of just sachets was a delight; 3D glasses spoke of a TV above the ordinary; plenty of power points for all those chargers and electrical equipment we tend to bring with us, and a portable electric fan to keep you cool as well as comfortable chairs all contributed to feeling your comfort was of the greatest importance. With an imaginative menu and great food, I'm only sorry our stay was just one night!
We stayed 3 nights, breakfast was great each morning. We had two evening meals which were both lovely. We stayed in the junior suite which had everything including beautiful views of the river and countryside.
A quick stop but had a great experience. Owner and staff very friendly and helpful. Great location and would of liked more time to enjoy. Evening meal and breakfast fantastic.
