This stay is very close walk to/from the train station with plenty of food options. This was a perfect place to have a quick stay before heading in to Yala. This family business is very charming and extremely friendly! They were very accommodating during our stay and even packed us breakfast when we had a quick morning check out!

Peaceful oasis in busy Ella

We had a wonderful three nights here in a traditional homestay. It was in a very peaceful location but only a few minutes walk downhill to the lively town of Ella. Cynthia and her family were very friendly hosts and provided us with enormous varied breakfasts.

Absolutely lovely

One of the nicest places I’ve stayed in Sri Lanka; beautifully quiet and calm, wonderful hosts and a cosy, welcoming room. The only downside was that work meant I was only able to stay one night; would love to come back.

Purtroppo abbiamo trascorso solo una notte da Cinthia, ma siamo stati benissimo! La casa è bellissima, silenziosa e la vista dalla camera è grandiosa. Tutto molto pulito e accogliente. Cinthia è stata molto gentile e di aiuto. La colazione è ottima e varia. L’alloggio è a pochi minuti a piedi da Ella e quindi comodo. A mio avviso il miglior posto in cui abbia alloggiato in Sei Lanka.

Einfach super. Man ist zu Fuß super schnell in Ella, hat aber eine ruhige Lage, jenseits des Trubels. Der Frühstücksblick geht ins Grüne. Das Frühstück selbst ist der Wahnsinn. Entweder Sri Lankisch, und immer Abwechslungsreich, oder europäisch. Familiengeführt und die Gastgeber sind außerordentlich bemüht und freundlich, mit hervorragendem Englisch. Die Unterkunft ist einfach und in Preis-Leistung für mich unschlagbar.

Quiet Relaxation

I loved my stay here. It was precisely what I needed and expected from Ella. The place is simple but comfortable. The simplicity makes it very relaxing and calming. The host/owner Cynthia is super kind and has excellent communication skills. The gardens and veranda are lovely for a cup of tea and reading or writing—especially in the many downpours Ella gets. The location is about a 7-10 minute walk to town and along a road that is fairly comfortable to walk on. The internet is a bit slow, but no slower than most of my other stays in Sri Lanka. The breakfast is delicious! My western breakfast was totally adequate, but my Sri Lankan breakfast was the best I had in Sri Lanka. Her coconut-whole wheat rotis are a true delight!

Cynthia and her husband were the most obliging hosts, nothing was too much trouble. Being a bungalow I never thought to ask for a ground floor room but we had been allocated one on the first floor. The steps were steep and when they saw I was struggling they immediatly offered us another room on the ground floor. The room was clean, spacious and had a comfortable bed. The bathroom shower had a curtain which meant everything else didn't get wet. Town was a short walk away and although Cynthia doesn't offer meals she kindly made us some soup. We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 days here

This place is a little gem. Super helpful owners Cynthia and Roshan and excellent breakfast, in fact the best breakfast I had in Sri Lanka. Cynthia and Roshan were so nice and went out of the way to help guests. The following morning, Roshan even drove me to the Colombo bus stop some 2 kms away. The place is within walking distance from the Ella train station. What's more, if you can play a little bit of piano, you can play the piano at the place. There you have it! I will highly recommend this place to anyone and will definitely go back there and spend more nights next time.

Accueil formidable par la maîtresse de maison Cynthia, toujours bienveillante et prête à nous donner ses meilleurs conseils. Maison très charmante un peu à l’écart du centre ville, réputé pour être un peu bruyant. Proche de la gare tout de même. Proche de l’arrêt de bus pour continuer son chemin vers les plages du sud. Un hébergement que nous recommandons !

Can walk from station. Walk out from station , turn right. End of Station St turn right under the railway bridge and up the hill. On the right on the bend about 500m past one street on right. Large room. Great breakfast, western or Sri Lankan. Owner very friendly and helpful. Walked from hotel to 9 arches bridge, Little Adams Peak and town. Owner organised a tuk tuk to meet 20 seater AC bus 3kms from hotel to Colombo- 6hrs 750R. Did not find this info on any search.
