An enjoyable stopover

The owner was so kind and helpful and the food really good and large helpings. The property had a home from home feeling, calming and restful with plenty of parking

Worth every penny

Really lovely owner, went above and beyond for breakfast service. Genuinely cares for her guests. Will 100% stay here again when im back for work. The pub down the street has great food too.

Weekend stay

Lovely place to stay, breakfast was great and beautifully cooked. Nice and clean, homely and welcoming. Ideally suited for Edinburgh if wanting a trip into the city, bus stop right outside.

A nice, quiet B&B outside the city. Elizabeth is wonderful and will make you feel right at home! Breakfast was lovely. It’s a nice place to stay if you want to avoid the chaos in Edinburgh and still be nearby and close to the airport.

The proprietor of this bed and breakfast was the highlight of the stay. She is advanced in years, but has more energy than someone half her age. Very funny and great to talk to.

Elizabeth is the real deal - friendly, attentive and a real character. The room was immaculate and the bed nice and comfy. There was a wide menu to choose from for breakfast and the portions were generous and the food nicely prepared. What’s not to like?

Charm outside Edinburgh!

Elizabeth is a great host! She has been doing this 60 years! She makes everyone individual breakfast each morning and your room gets tidied up each day! The bed in our room Turnberry 6, had an extremely comfortable bed!

A great find.

Our host was very welcoming. Double room very comfortable, eco friendly, great tea/coffee making service in room, hot shower, comfy bed. Hearty breakfast, great selection of food available all locally sourced. Caters to all requests. Free WiFi and parking. Great restaurant just 10mins walk away. Public transport easy to use.

Mrs Scott is fantastic, she's a real character and provides a 'home from home'. Unfortunately, that was my problem, I felt like we were encroaching in someone else's home. I booked on Expedia because it had the highest rating for a hotel local to the Royal Highland Show, where we were visiting. It was also the cheapest of those available within a 10 mile radius of the venue. I was therefore very happy to book a room. My wife and I have never previously stayed in a guest house, so it wasn't really the sort of venue we're used to. It's probably unfair to criticize, as it was a new experience which is unlikely we shall repeat. For anyone who does like the guest house type experience, then I have no hesitation in recommending Ashcroft Farmhouse and particularly Mrs Scott. Step back in time and marvel at her home and welcome.

Elizabeth the host cannot do enough for you. A beautiful place to stay with a fantastic breakfast. Ideal for holiday makers or business people who need access to Edinburgh or the surrounding areas. Much better than a corporate hotel, full of personality.
