The staff at the front desk were incredibly helpful, and friendly, however lugging suitcases up 82 stairs and a 5min walk from the carpark to the hotel was rather off putting. So we left suitcases in the car. The hotel itself was very clean and well presented, and the room was very clean and spacious, though having twin beds fully made but pushed right together was a new one for us. We specifically chose a bath option, but the overflow on the bath was so low, it made having a nice soak impossible. The bathroom had some black corners, but otherwise it was clean. The room itself was rather stuffy, even with aircon, but thankfully you could still open windows, even on the higher floors. The breakfast was fantastic! Everything presented was delicious, and had so many different options to suit anyone. Though my partner wasn't overly happy with his coffee (att. coffee connoisseurs) Overall it was a nice place, comfy beds, black out curtains and good service.

If the staff had simply treated me politely during check-out, I probably wouldn’t have written this review. Unfortunately, the receptionist was rude throughout the entire process. She couldn’t even find my suitcase. I had already given her the luggage claim ticket and told her the color, but I still had to go into the luggage room myself and point it out. My room was below the lobby level. Before my stay, I had read reviews from other Asian and people of color guests saying they were often assigned rooms in this area. I didn’t want to believe it, but after my own experience, I couldn’t help feeling the same way. I booked a city-view room, yet my view was mostly garbage bins. The drainage was also poor. Both the shower and sink drained very slowly, a problem that has been mentioned in older reviews but still hasn’t been fixed. I’ve traveled all over the world, and choosing this hotel for my trip to Edinburgh was one of my biggest travel regrets. Reading older reviews, it’s obvious that the same complaints continue to appear and nothing has changed. For context, I am a Korean woman, and the receptionist at check-out also appeared to be Asian. I smiled, spoke politely, and treated her with respect, but that respect was never returned. Considering how much I paid, I expected far better service.

エディンバラ観光の拠点として最高のホテルでした。 Waverley駅から近く、旧市街・新市街のどちらへもアクセスしやすい立地です。すぐ近くにはSt James Quarterもあり、ショッピングや食事にも便利でした。 ハネムーンで利用しましたが、広々としたツインルームは快適で、アメニティも充実していました。シャワーとバスタブが分かれているのも使いやすかったです。 朝食は種類が豊富で、温かい料理からパン、フルーツまでどれも美味しく、大満足でした。 ロビーにはゆったり過ごせるソファがあり、無料の紅茶をいただきながらくつろげたのも嬉しいポイントです。 立地・設備・サービスのバランスが非常に良く、エディンバラを訪れる際にはぜひまた利用したいホテルです。

Though we only stayed one night the Apex Waterloo was a delight. We arrived in the early afternoon, way before check-in but we were upgraded to a two story accommodation that was available immediately (for which we were grateful after a long flight)! We were surprised to find air conditioning. Most hotels in Scotland do not have it and the summer days can get quite warm. The hotel location is perfect for sightseeing, shopping, and dining. We enjoyed cocktails in the lounge after our day of sightseeing and breakfast was wonderful. The hotel stored our luggage while we toured the castle and unfortunately, we did not have time to enjoy the pool or spa but we will definitely return! Thank you!

Super convenient to all bus tours right across the street! Hotel is lovely! I will say the furnishings in the room were slightly worn, but everything else was great, clean and super comfortable and roomy! No outlets at the bed side so charging devices was a bit inconvenient, though there are other outlets in the room. Air conditioning was great as we prefer sleeping cool. Elevator could be slow but one is being replaced so only one was in operation. There is an entrance near the train station level which is super convenient. However, we missed this upon arrival as it wasn’t clearly marked that we could see. So watch for it carefully if you’re exiting the train station as it will save you from an inconvenient uphill walk with luggage!! The restaurant is delicious and lovely. I wish there was outdoor seating for dining and relaxing. It is very walkable to many stores and restaurants, but the city in general is VERY hilly. Ubers can take a while but no more than 20 minutes in our experience. Nice bar and lounge seating. Would definitely stay here again and would recommend!

Can't fault them for cleanliness. It's also in a very convenient location. My only complaints are that there was only one working lift which made for long wait times. Second, we were given a disabled room which we are not made aware of It would have been fine except the bathroom was an issue as when taking a shower the entire bathroom floor became soaked. We didn't get to use the restaurant so can't comment on that. Overall, nice place for decent price.

Stayed for our silver wedding anniversary and glad we chose the Apex Waterloo. Check in was easy and friendly, Room was very nice, clean, spacious and well equipped. Wonderful reception lady came and brought us a bottle of Prosecco on ice with 2 glasses on the house which was a lovely gesture Pool and Spa was lovely and relaxing and for an early Sat evening we had it to ourselves. The lady managing the Spa was wonderfully polite and kind. The bar staff were friendly. Overall a great hotel, yes price was high, but mid July, excellent proximity to city centre, train station etc and special occasion the Apex Waterloo was an excellent choice and would definitely recommend

Location, location, location! It's barely 2 blocks from Edinburgh Waverly Station, and you might even be able to get there directly (though I couldn't find it). An easy walk up and down Princes Street with lots of shopping and dining. The breakfast room is lovely, the servers were helpful and friendly, and the food was delicious. I stayed on a tour, and out of 6 hotels, Apex had some of my favorite toiletries. My kids also liked the pool, although it was 'too cold' for them. We were there during a heat wave, and we were very grateful for the air conditioning! Unfortunately, it didn't work the first night, but the staff were very helpful in finding us a new room, helping move our stuff, and comping us breakfast for the trouble. They were also down to one working elevator, and the front entrance has 3 steps with no obvious ramp. Be careful when booking to specify if you have mobility needs, as some of the rooms on the "seventh" floor are down stairs with no lift. They also had a weird shower design that caused water to run down the door and onto the floor, which is more a problem for their staff than for us guests.

Our hotel room was comfortable, very clean and spaciously well appointed. The staff at reception was courteous and anxious to help as needed, appreciated when arriving after flight issues at 11 pm. Netish was especially helpful when locating a driver to take us to York at the end of our stay. We found the staff in all areas of the hotel to be welcoming and friendly. One elevator was out of service for replacement, causing delays for guests and staff, but that was the only difficulty during our stay. I would not hesitate to recommend the Apex hotel and plan to stay there again when visiting Edinburgh.

The breakfast was the highlight of our stay! Absolutely fantastic! Choices, taste, and presentation were great. As for the property, the lobby is beautiful. The room was fine but the grout in the bathroom needs to be scrubbed. The room was carpeted so, safe to say, there were stains which made it look not so great. The bed and pillows were comfortable. However, one of our throw pillows had a hole and rip on the cover which was also kind of off putting. It was a bit weird having to pay extra for a robe and slippers but at least it wasn’t much. The staff were great and very helpful/accommodating at all hours. All in all, for the location and general aesthetic, we had a good stay.
