The building has been renovated to a very high standard and kept the original structure intact, preserving the architectural features of the former council chambers. The staff were excellent, the food delightful and the bar experience benefitted with the unique surroundings.

Liked: Clean Comfy bed Great showers, very hot! Lovely staff Quiet Great location very close to the Durham Cathedral Disliked: Breakfast was average. Over heated pastries and lukewarm cooked breakfast with cold beans on the first morning. Sausages very processed not what I was expecting. Would certainly return but would eat breakfast in town.

The building itself is absolutely beautiful but it is now looking tired and in need of a refurbishment. The location is excellent very central. We dined in the Marco Pierre Steakhouse and whilst the waitresses were very pleasant the food was terrible. The meat was poor quality and the cost was through the roof which we would have not minded paying if it had been worth it. In their defence they did give us a reduction on the final bill without quibble but our expectations of the experience fell short,
