The Apple Orchard Inn is my new happy place! The moment we arrived; Jim warmly welcomed us and invited us to enjoy a homemade cookie. He also showed us where we could find bottled water. My husband and I stayed in the Macintosh Room, a comfortable and beautifully decorated room on the second floor. It was quiet, cozy, and inviting. The bathroom was roomy, the towels were soft and fluffy, and the apple-shaped key ring was absolutely adorable. The photos online accurately represent how beautifully the property is landscaped and maintained. After our long drive, we spent more than an hour relaxing by the small pond. It didn't just look beautiful—it felt peaceful and restorative. Located about 10 miles north of Durango in Hermosa, the inn has a relaxed country atmosphere. The grounds feature an apple orchard, a small pond, babbling brooks, wildflowers, thoughtfully placed trees and rose bushes for privacy, and even a chicken coop that provides farm-fresh eggs. The made-to-order breakfast was absolutely delicious. Thank you, Leslie, for the wonderful meal. Leslie cooked while Jim served, and together they made a great team. We highly recommend the Apple Orchard Inn and can't wait to return.

This charming cottage with a front porch looking across a bubbling brook to a small pond with mountains in the distance was such a better option than a chain hotel room with common hallways. It is a bit out of town but you can go into historic Durango for activities and then return here for a peaceful sleep, a pastoral setting and a delightful breakfast with other guests. More room for kids to move around in or go check out the chickens at Chick Inn.
