The staff at the royal Marine would not do any more for you, the room was upgraded to a sea view and that was amazing, we sat and had two beautiful dinners, the dining room is redecorated wonderfully and they even did a santas grotto. It’s like fine dining for incredibly prices, I really wish more people start to visit so they can keep bringing this old hotel back to full glory, they deserve it. Would we stay again absolutely!!

Very comfortable
Very comfortable, nice large room, excellent breakfast
The Royal Marine is an historic building, full of history, with an outstanding sea view, transformed internally with the installation of en suite bathrooms etc to suit the modern traveller.

ROOM CLEAN, CUSTOM SERVICE POOR, THE DIRECT NICE VIEW FROM OUTSIDE HOTEL.
Very friendly staff, room was very nice with a sea view and two big comfortable chairs to sit on looking out to sea watching the car ferry’s coming and going.
Always a warm welcome, comfy beds, very quiet and peaceful. Staff really go the extra mile. Even brought us plates and cutlery for our takeaway. Lovely old place.
Stayed here for one night. Room was clean and the bed was so comfortable. It is a little dated but it all adds to the character. Would stay here again . 👍Proximity to the ferry was 30 seconds which was great

A historic property that was peaceful and a beautiful view of Holy Loch.
I really like this hotel. If you like old style architecture like me this is great. We stayed in the arran room where the view was amazing looking down on the ferry terminal. The room was spacious and comfortable.
Very nice stay and a very comfy bed with a lovely wee view of the ferry port. The male at reception was very friendly and made us feel so welcome!

Lovely staff
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was fine for what we needed. We had dogs with us. We had dinner in the bar, it was ok. But we decided not to stay for breakfast.
Great for getting the ferry.
The hotel is old and needs a lot of money to spend on it but the owners are trying.
We would stay again as it’s affordable and very friendly.

Disliked: Cleanliness
The room was spacious but not cleaned well. There were empty sugar packets on the floor next to the bedside table, socks under the sofa in the room also, just a feeling of lack of cleanliness in the room.
The one staff member we came across was friendly. We didn’t eat here so cannot comment on the food.
We were on the 3rd floor, my mum always likes to know the fire escape route when she’s in a new place, leaflet in room stated to check door for map and exits - this was non existent.

Done the job, but it's a tired old place
Room was clean, facilities were good, staff were friendly.
Could be such a grand hotel but it needs a massive amount of investment.
The front facade looks like it's ready to fall away from the structure. Really looks dangerous. Main timber beams are rotten.
Absolutely amazing hotel. Unsure what the bad reviews are about as our stay was amazing. The room was up to date and very spacious, we loved the added touch of the toilet roll haha.
The lady on reception was wonderful and so nice.
We will definitely be back.
Lovely, comfortable stay in a large room which suited us having 2 dogs with us. Staff excellent, super friendly and accommodating. Hotel is comfortable and cozy and is a very old building which the owners are continuing to upgrade. Beautifully spacious and high ceilings with many period features. Breakfast was great too. Will definitely be back.
