“Bedroom and bathroom clean and tidy well apportioned steps to bed room not good for disabled person or any one with mobility problems main stairs ok. bar and lounge well laid out. Breakfast room an orangery to rear lovely all furniture English oak including stairs in bed rooms in-bar area etc food excellent”

“We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It was in a beautiful location. Our room was clean, and had everything we needed for our stay. It is well located, within walking distance to a main line station, bus network as well as a narrow gauge railway. There are also electric car charging facilities at a nearby car park. The food was good and all the staff were helpful and friendly.”

“The hotel itself was in a run down condition and needs a lot of money spent on it. My room, had windows into the atrium so my view was of stairs and walls. It also meant there was no airflow, and on this very hot summer, it made it difficult to sleep or be comfortable in any way. The lights in my bathroom did not work, which I mentioned to the staff, and the door self closing mechanism did not have a soft close function so that I was woken each day before 5 am by the slamming of doors. “Upon Arrival we were given a friendly greeting by The Barman and also a local gentleman who was seated at the bar. The barman checked us in & provided us with the room key 🗝️. Gave us Breakfast Details Times etc. We stayed for 3 Nights Upon arrival the room was beautiful prepared for our arrival. We stayed in Room 2 Triple Room for three people. The room was nicely laid out and a great size accommodation for 3 people. The next morning our room was beautiful cleaned Towels restocked....

“Standard size bed, so be careful if you are tall/wide; not suitable for wheelchair users as dining room up narrow stairs; little shelving in bathroom; breakfast period limited (7.30 -8pm). Good points - free Wi-Fi, honesty bar, extra pillows/ duvet in room, very quiet location.”

“3 nights in late July. Hotel is a great place to stay to experience the Lake District, not far from Ambleside but remote enough to feel like you are really in nature. Staff and breakfast were excellent. Walk up to Stickle Tarn was a good test with a couple of scrambly bits but well worth it once you got there.”
