The hotel is an older treasure! The 24' lobby with soaring columns with golden frieze around the tops are stunning. There is a great grand piano in the lobby that guests on our other frequent visits have played beautiful music on. The food and service in the restaurant very good. The rooms are not huge and neither are the bathrooms, but they are clean, comfortable and the decor is interesting - with letters and postcards from the early 1900s. We have stayed here 5 or 6 times and have always enjoyed our visits.
I stayed a second night with a different reservation and they couldn’t accommodate the same room, so I had to check out and recheck in. Historic hotel has a lovely lobby and extensive restaurant menu. However, the rooms are very dated and bathrooms very small.

Disliked: Cleanliness, amenities
Bar and restaurant are closed for a while and staff will not let you bring items in
Must run hot water for 10 minutes before it warms up.
Must call staff to run elevator for you.
Sketchy characters around the property.
But the old architecture is nice
Very nice. Quiet. Lovely room with old fashioned bath tub. Cable TV so able to watch football on Sunday.
Be aware that the restaurant and bar are closed on Sunday and Monday.
Staff great. Bathroom not so much. Was supposed to be accessible. Just because there is a grab bar in there does not make it accessible. It was outside the tub so not reachable. Upgrade the toilet and put in a shower and it would be great.
The location was perfect for the event we attended close by. A short walk on a very lit and safe main road to the venue. The young lady at the hotel check in counter was extremely polite, helpful, and professional. The hotel is beautiful and clean.
Really cool historic hotel. The lobby and staircase are beautiful, feels like stepping back in time. The room was clean and comfy, and the food was actually really good too. It’s not super modern, but that’s part of the charm. Great spot if you’re visiting Douglas.
I love this hotel! It is beautiful and is full of history. Yes, it is very clean. The staff is wonderful! They are very friendly and so helpful. The food and service in the tavern was really good too.
