This is a really lovely place to stay. I was given the 2 bedroom cottage next door to the pub, and it is very well catered for. Kitchen, living room, dining area, etc. Bathroom was very clean. Great place for morning walks and dinner at the pub next door. Very quiet and peaceful. Will definitely stay here again.

Located in a quiet rural sleepy English village is this charming pub with rooms. The tired looking outside contradicts the nicely decorated room. It's small with a tiny bathroom but had the usual facilities and was clean. The staff were excellent, friendly and helpful. Food was really very good, simple but delicious.
The hotel and staff were excellent. The hotel is off the beaten track a little way from Dorchester - but well worth the effort and drive. The staff can’t do enough to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Excellent breakfast also.
I cant speak highly enough of our stay at the oak at dewlish. This is classic old village pub, the atmosphere is very local and welcoming. Really nice countryside around. The rooms felt like they were newly refurbished in a nice way and very comfortable. Really nice for the price point. The food is very good, classic pub grub and a good breakfast

One night business stay
Very nice village type pub, very nice evening menu, & food pleasant staff, although it says breakfast at 8-30 , they will do an earlier breakfast if you ask, parking may be an issue, as it’s on road, outside the pub , there is a small car park to the rear via a very narrow entrance, otherwise all good,
Hotel in a remote area so nothing within walking distance. Room was cold so I had to activate a portable, plug in heater. Dinner menu was fairly basic...no chicken, fish. Bathroom was small and shaving light not working. Relatively expensive compared to other hotels in the area.
this country pub has excellent food we had diner and breakfast there was alot in there and only the chief and one girl behind bar that i see i did see another lady bring out some food the same chief cooked breakfast served and cleared tables all with no problem. He should told how good he was.the walls in the room are a little thin but it was only one night so no problem i would stay there again.
After driving for 14 hrs that day all i wanted was a couple of beers and a hot meal before bed.Pulled up to find the place in Darkness and was told they dont open on a monday.Said i could stay as was 7 oclock but no drink/Meal etc.
Had to drive 40 mins back to Dorchester to get a take away.
Breakfast is between 8.30 and 9.30 which is far to late for the average working man..
Left at 7.30 after paying £70 for the night.
With hindsight i would slept in my van and saved my money.
My worst hotel experience in 6 years of staying away weekly.
This has also happened to another review that i have noticed so this really shouldnt have happen again unless it was deliberate...
Not Impressed
A little pub in the middle of nowhere really so don’t expect to walk out for a meal anywhere or to see much than a few country lanes, but the pub does meals which are quite good. It did what we needed as a stop off on a longer trip. They have just 3 rooms above the pub so expect a bit of noise until about midnight from those playing pool and drinking directly below you. After midnight it was very quiet once the pub closed, nothing around you to make any noise although the laminate flooring outside the rooms in the hall was noisy when other guests got up early. Slightly dirty in places but overall ok (doors, corner of bathroom). Breakfast was great and the service very good and quick.
Very friendly staff, good food, comfortable rooms. Good atmosphere in the bar with a wide range of age groups.
Dark skies area, opportunity to see the stars on a cloudless night.
