Really enjoyed our stay. Our hosts (Paul and Brendan) provided helpful travel advice, took time to accommodate our needs, printed our travel documents, made our dinner reservations, made & served a wonderful breakfast and are truly nice people. We would definitely stay again. Oh and best coffee we’ve had in Australia !

Grand it certainly is, with enormous style and character. Comfy beds, beautiful rooms and decor, charming hosts, delicious breakfast served on gold rimmed china - what's not to love? If you are there on a Sunday afternoon, ask about their cream teas in advance - the clotted cream is home made!

A wonderful experience

Staying at The Grand is like stepping into a different world. The furnishings, antiques and attention to detail make you feel like you just don't want to be anywhere else. But the best part was the graciousness of hosts Paul and Brenden. Absolute gentlemen who made me feel at home in those sumptuous surroundings. Paul was so helpful with directions before I arrived, and Brenden cooked up a wonderful breakfast which was just what I needed before boarding the Spirit back to Geelong. I have attached a photo of The Grand that I took just before setting sail. This is the place to stay in Devonport!

This is a beautiful large vintage house and can be a little confusing. The room was comfortable and large with furniture to go with the period of the house. The cooked to order breakfast was excellent.

This place is amazing. Our room had 16 foot ceilings and a four poster bed. A true B & B, a cooked breakfast was included in the price. And the owners couldn’t have been more helpful, including booking us a table at a nearby pub when the ferry from Geelong was running late.

Absolutely loved The Grand - old world charm lovingly restored and furnished beautifully, sympathetic to the era. The hosts are warm, friendly, very hospitable and informative. We had a great sleep because the bed was so comfortable. The breakfast is exceptional - I'm sorry we will miss the next High Tea. We don't usually B&B, but will more often now, Thank you Paul and Brenden, you are excellent hosts! I want to come back.

Hosts Paul and Brenden were a delight! Staying at The Grand is like taking a step back in time. The facilities are superbly renovated and the old charm of early Australia has been retained throughout the property. The rooms are extremely comfortable with all the modern amenities and the breakfast cooked by our hosts was absolutely delicious. The property is conveniently located a short walk into town where there are plenty of restaurants to choose from. I highly recommend The Grand on Macfie to anyone stopping in Devonport. You will not be disappointed!

It is a heritage property and the guys who run it are fastidiously clean and proud of their property and very welcoming to guests. Breakfast was included in the price but as I was leaving at 7am I thought I’d miss out. But no. They opened the kitchen at 6 am for those of us catching the ferry. Breakfast was delicious and very generous. Thank you Paul and Mark.

Treat yourself toba stay at The Grand on Macfie

A beautiful double storey property in Devonport, amazingly and lovingly renovated and restored by the owners, with tastefull, elegant heritage furnishings throughout. Our room had an incredible sea view overlooking the terminal where the Spirit of Tasmania docks. Stunning! The owners have also created beautiful sitting rooms where guests can sit with a quiet beverage. The room had a 4 poster bed, the furnishings were beautiful and the whole experience exuded comfort, elegance and style. Highly recommended.

Perfection, Itself!

What can I say other than, if I could, I would rate The Grand at Macfie 10s across yhe board. I had decided to treat myself for my birthday and there couldn't have been a better place to do so. Paul and Brendan are such a team making this an unforgettable experience from the setting to the exquisite food not to mention the High Tea! They went above and beyond even taking me to my bus with a private tour enroute. Do not pass up this experience.

Well what a great start to our little Tasmanian holiday greeted by Paul who was so friendly and explained the history of this amazing house due to my jaw dropping over the beautiful condition of this little old gem totally renovated by him and his partner Brenden, after been shown through to our rooms Paul gave us some suggestions for dinner in Devonport and then booked us in to a beautiful restaurant with some amazing food only minutes away. We explained to Paul and Brenden that we may have to miss our first breakfast due to an early start the next morning and then Brenden insisted he would start breakfast early to make sure we travelled with a full belly its little things like this that really made our stay. The breakfast is just top class like everything in this beautiful piece of Devonport our only complaint was that we will be comparing The Grand on Macfie with other places we stay and we did and they rate the best by far.....do yourself a favour and be spoilt by two friendly owners Paul and Brenden and I would love to see some ongoing renovation photos after you complete your high tea room thanks again my friends we will be back.
