Staying here is a full experience. The people were very friendly and helpful, the house itself is unique and relaxing. Be prepared for what you are signing up for, a beds and breakfast type stay, no tvs and levels of floors to carry your luggage, but more than worth it. The bar has amazing staff and drinks. I would look forward to staying here any and every chance I visited the area.
The coffee and tea bar are as bare bones economical as the bathtubs are over-the-top. The area of town where the hotel is located is undergoing gentrification, so expect to go further afoot to get places to eat, especially breakfast. Location is very convenient to downtown and the 16th St Mall.
Room was very nice. Halls were quite dark. Could use a little more lighting. Beautiful house and the public house was quite good. We were not big on the automatic lighting in the bathroom.
We will stay here every time we are in Denver moving forward and would recommend it 100%. All the amazing history without a sacrifice for comfort and privacy. The hotel is fully booked while we were there and we never heard anyone else at night. The two-person copper tub. Epic.
The whole property is magic- like stepping back in time. But the copper tubs, the cloudlike mattress, and the adjacent restaurant with the fire pits and wood-fired pizzas really sealed the deal.
The negative was there was no television set in the room. This was the first hotel I've ever been to with no t.v. T.V.s are so inexpensive now, that it shouldn't be a problem to add those. The other negative was the plumbing in the shower. If you tried to cool down the temperature it went completely cold so we had to quickly shower in way to hot water. The positive was the super comfy bed and access to the lounge and pizza restaurant next door. It was also quick to the 16th street bus system which is free.
Pros: Super clean. Super bed. Fun decor. Smells good. Great pizza and cocktail bar. Staff is outstanding. Inside felt super safe. Self check in and check out is a breeze.
Things to be aware of…parking is super limited and the area has high unhoused population. Traveling as a single woman, wouldn’t walk around the neighborhood. But so nice inside! Great place.
Cute property and unique decor, friendly staff. The staff is not 24-7 unless an emergency call, which for a hotel - not an airbnb or bnb - is a drawback. The iron is shared amongst the guests in an armoire in the hall. There is no ironing board. The room did not have a table or desk or even a chair to set things on, had to use the floor. The honor bar was a big tray laid across the bed, awkward to place on the floor to go to sleep. Took the food items off the honor bar tray and used the tray to iron a shirt on, seems unsanitary and super awkward. There is no rack or closet to hang clothes. The bar/restaurant adjacent serves take-out, but again, no place to put the items once done in the room except stack on the bedside stand or the floor. If you want to simply experience the decor and a simple stay, this is a great place. For a business traveler, or someone looking for proximity to the Capitol for a meeting, notsomuch. Again, very nice staff and cool decor though.
Fantastic property with exceptional ambiance, friendly staff, terrific location, unique decor, relaxing bar/restaurant, and comfortable rooms. There’s really nothing more one could ask for in a home away from home. Can’t wait to go back!
