Our room was lovely and very clean. The house is spacious and beautifully decorated and furnished. Our host was friendly, we very much enjoyed chatting with him about the area. The hot tub was great, and we loved all the lovely plants on the deck. We appreciated the dining suggestions we found in our room and the abundance of ideas for other things to see in the area. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

John was the consummate host in this lovely BNB. We had more than plenty of room to move around. The location was just close enough to get to a handful of restaurants and shops with a quick drive but the neighborhood was also walkable and quiet at night. John gave us plenty of good ideas for a day trip and nearby sights.

A Most Pleasant Stay at the Charles Bass House

We were pleasantly surprised at how beautiful the Charles Bass House was. John, the host, was extremely gracious and handled our minimal food allergies with ease. We had what was probably the best breakfast of our vacation. We recommend staying here and if we find ourselves even remotely in the South Boston area again, we would not hesitate to return. Highly recommended!

After our 2hr drive, it was a welcomed respite! Our stay was mid-week, so it was lovely to have a quiet stay in the first floor two room suite. We enjoyed excellent wine and jazz playing softly in the background. John made thee BEST pancakes I've EVER had. Our family felt welcome and at home. Would absolutely recommend & return again!

The place was stocked with everything you could possibly want, food, beverages, towels, flatware, dishes, glasses, etc. The large, private jacuzzi was great! The home is the quintessential elegant, southern mansion built around 1900.

This is a warm, comfy very personal BNB. John, the owner, lives onsite. He provides for everything including early check in or late out check out if it is at all possible. The bed is comfortable and the downstairs accommodation is like having your own house. The breakfast was delicious and perfectly timed. All in all, I highly recommend this beautiful place.

The Charles Bass House B&B is a charming property! John, the owner, serves up a lovely breakfast and provides the perfect dose of Southern hospitality. If you are considering booking a stay here, stop overthinking it and book it right now - you won't be sorry. The house is full of windows and natural sunlight, and it is well appointed with top quality linens and appealing decor. The downstairs Guest Suite is huge, the bed is super comfortable, and the whole house is very clean. My husband and I had a delightful experience at the Charles Bass House B&B and we can't wait to stay here again the next time our travels take us through South Boston. Do yourself a favor and book a stay here (or surprise a loved one by treating them to a night or two here - it is such a treat!). I really cannot say enough nice things about this B&B gem!

Absolute Gem!

Hands down best stay in South Boston area. John is a spectacular host, we felt right at home as soon as we stepped out of the car. Breakfast was over the top and was even made meticulously around my many food allergies....I need the recipe for our quiche! We are definitely returning!
