The location was the best part of this property. We stayed so we would be close to our early morning dolphin tour, and we were able to walk there easily. The pool and hot tub were well maintained, and the staff was friendly. The hotel itself desperately needs to be renovated. Everything is rusty, crusty, and falling apart. The carpets in the hallways were really rough, and the condition of the bathrooms as well. I don’t think we would make the choice to stay here again.

Needs some updating and some seriously upgraded breakfast facilities but as the whole area is due for demolition and a laguna style modern renovation (sad to lose all the characterful buildings and restaurants) it really doesn’t matter. The place was decent. Definitely a bit run down and in need of some upgrades. But everything worked okay. Breakfast was underwhelming but did the job. The floors and walls were very thin and made it very difficult to relax. The location is good if you want to walk along the harbor. It was fun to be there during the whale Festival, although unexpected.

The one reason to stay here is it is walkable to the Catalina island boat landing if you are planning a day trip there (which is why I rated it a 2 rather than a 1) The hotel itself is very run down and poorly maintained. For example, the elevator inspection is expired, the breakfast is mostly stale and the walls in the shower were coming apart.
