1/5 – Unsafe, unhygienic, and dishonest property.
We stayed at SUJET Beach Resort, Da Nong, Vietnam over New Year’s and for my birthday. This stay involved serious health, safety, hygiene, privacy, and transparency issues and did not meet basic hospitality standards or what was advertised.
Health & hygiene issues throughout the property
• Floors were consistently filthy, not only in our room but also in common areas including the lobby. After walking barefoot in the room, our feet were black.
• There were broken stairs in shared areas, creating a safety hazard.
• The room smelled strongly of sewer, which appeared to be a building-wide plumbing issue, not an isolated room problem.
• Rats were observed on the premises, along with multiple stray animals freely roaming the property.
Room conditions were unacceptable
• The bedroom had no windows, making ventilation impossible.
• The sewer smell only improved when doors were left open.
• Hot water in the shower lasted only a few minutes, making proper showers impossible.
• The bed was extremely hard, comparable to sleeping on the floor.
• The AC and fan did not function properly, despite staff showing us how to use them.
Housekeeping failures & privacy violations
• For the first three days, we had to repeatedly ask for basic necessities such as towels, soap, and toilet paper, and these were not consistently provided during our five-day stay.
