Basically good stay

The fittings in the room were tired and worn. The tea/coffee tray was kept in a cupboard but was warm. Needs to be on the side. Bed comfy room very clean

Close to Dumfries House

Nice hotel close to Dumfries house. Clean and quiet room and good restaurant for dinner and breakfast. Close to town centre.

Lovely welcoming staff and great service. Very good food. Parking good. Location good. Room was clea & comfortable. However, the hotel corridor and room had extremely creaky floorboards!! Would stay again though.

Great night away

Food was absolutely delicious we had scallops to start cajun chicken with rice and fish and chips then to finish chocolate fudge cake and chocolate brownie sundae. Staff professional and friendly. Altogether a great stay and will definitely stay again.

Lovely Hotel However on going to room , furniture /Bedside tables in room 25 Looking worn and in need of repair/replacement Shower could not be cooled down enough, would have been concern if staying longer than 1 night All hotel staff were polite, professional but very friendly , a skill in its self and much appreciated

Good, but in need of a revamp

The service and food are very good. The hotel is looking a bit tired, espescially the carpets, and very creaky floorboards

The hotel was overall well presented with plenty of free parking. It was disappointing that our room was not made-up during our 2-day stay, the WiFi did not work, the TV remote was not functioning, the extractor fan did not work and there was no lift to the top floor.

We have stayed on several occasions at the Dumfries Arms Hotel but we were disappointed this time in the quality of the fruit salad at breakfast. It consisted mainly of hard apple with skin on.

Rooms not cleaned.

Arranged a late check in of 1am due to being at a wedding on day of check in. Arrived, and was sent to a room which had not been cleaned - bed was made, but there were cans and glasses, dirty toilet, stain on wall and spillages. Went down to let reception know - they said they could check if they had another room but would come and clear the glasses. Moved to another room at the time; the only option at the time as we just wanted to go to bed having been out all day. Other couple we were travelling with had used sanitary towels in their bin, which had not been emptied. Next morning, they let us know that they would not be charging us extra for the upgrade. Emailed manager later, who said as we accepted the room upgrade and they discounted our stay by £10 that they wouldn’t be providing a refund.

On arrival (8 hours drive) the receptionist greeted us with absolute disregard for people with disabilities or knowledge of legal rights of service dogs. I had included this into my booking and had confirmation that the hotel would support us. His words made my daughter withdraw as if she’d done something wrong. Not okay!!! Your team need D&I training.

Beware. This hotel has issue with Soil pipes. Our room was unbearable in the bathroom and had to have the door closed. Unable to use the toilet because of the stench. Reported to hotel staff - who advised ‘Yes we know - the cleaner forgot to put a plug back somewhere’ ?!?!?? Was then advised an ‘Operations Manager’ would call to discuss - 5 days later still waiting……… despite me calling to chase. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Had a lovely one night stay here prior to visiting Dumfries House. Staff were lovely and food excellent. Only problem we had was the bathroom. The shower was over the bath which was very slippy and there was no mat and no grab rails to hold on to. As we are both getting older and have physical problems we felt very unsafe.

This is a very welcoming hotel and the staff are warm and friendly and professional. The room is comfortable, but a bit squashed for the people. Our only gripe was that it was hot and stuffy
