Asia Cruise Guide

Explore the beauty and culture of Asia while enjoying the luxury of a cruise. Depending on the itinerary you choose, you may dock in places like Thailand, Japan, Singapore, or China, giving you the opportunity to see historical attractions, stunning nature, and eat some of the best food you’ve ever tried!

What is the best time to cruise Southeast Asia?

Despite the fact that most countries in Southeast Asia are somewhat close to each other, they have diverse climates, so weather conditions vary depending on the country and time of year. Generally speaking, during April through May the weather tends to be hot and dry. Monsoon season brings rain and humidity from late May through October. Beginning at November through February the weather is more cool and dry.

What should I pack for an Asia cruise?

As mentioned above, climates are diverse in Asia, so it’s best to pack for both heat and rain. If you forget to pack anything, or there’s a surprise change in weather, the gift shop on your cruise ship should have what you need. Below is a list of some Asia cruise essentials:

  • Items for sun protection like hats, sunglasses, sunscreen, and lip balm with SPF 50
  • Bug spray
  • Wet wipes (both for staying cool and cleaning hands)
  • Lightweight, loose fitting clothing
  • Long-sleeve shirt or jacket for cooler nights
  • Raincoat or travel umbrella
  • Clothes that cover shoulders and legs for visiting temples and religious sites
  • Bathing suit
  • Sandals and comfortable walking shoes

Are shots necessary for an Asia cruise?

The Center for Disease Control (CDC) recommends that travelers be current on their routine vaccinations, as cruise ship employees may be from countries where those diseases are more common than the US, and vaccinations are not required. Talk to your doctor about the specific countries you’re planning on booking a cruise to Asia, but possible shots to consider may include vaccinations for typhoid, tetanus, rabies, hepatitis A and B, and yellow fever.
