Way cool! This is one of my favorite hotel stays of all time. First of all, the check in process is somewhat clandestine with text and drops in all the right ways. The process is so appropriate for the building which was like an accent mini-castle. We feel like we were the only humans in the structure. We didn’t hear or see anybody until breakfast - which was bespoke and wonderful. If you look at the map, you would think this hotel is not in a good location. You would be wrong. The location is perfect - right next to the ferry terminal, so you can get to other peninsula at a snap, while avoiding the noise. The traffic sucks in this country, but the locale is well situated to get to the airport without having to go through any busy areas. Oh, and the hotel smells great with the subtle incense lofting about. Despite being a super old building, the beds, mattress and linens were all new and excellent. What a wonderful experience. If in Malta again, this is the only place I’m staying.

Great location, easy access to Valletta via a cheap foot passenger ferry which runs every 30 minutes across the Harbour. Really attractive property. Fantastically run. Perfect. Comfortable bed.

History coming alive

Incredible hotel with great architecture and location. The staff and the owner are extremely welcoming making sure you're living in your own home rather than a matchbox. The eye to detail for the interior alongwith the location of being just ferry side just makes sure youve comfort while still experiencing the character of the house. The 2 things that gave us a problem was the noise and the amount of stairs which they cant do a lot about because the hotel is trying to be a modern 16th century building. Had to get ear plugs as suggested by their own staff after which the night became a lot more comfortable.

Very cool property, with a local flair, clean and well maintained. There's a number of steps from the street level to the entrance of the building, and then more to the rooms (no elevators, of course). Nice decorations all-over, with attention to detail, traditional-looking, very clean and appealing. Be mindful when you book, as the meaning of "detached private bathroom" does not disclose that the bathroom is down the hallway. I assume the rooms listed under "private bathroom" have a layout that includes it. Should have checked before making a reservation! Good, clear communication via email/whatsapp prior to check-in, as there is no reception on premise. Attentive and helpful staff, excellent location - you can be close to tourist attractions, restaurants, the ferry, the water promenade, etc. - but safe and quiet at the same time. I would definitely book again, just a different room.

An absolutely stunning old building in such a perfect area for our first visit to Malta. We stayed in Jean as it was our anniversary celebration and loved having the bathtub in the room to relax in after long days walking up and down the steps in the city. The hotel was a true gem of a find and the area itself was so much nicer to stay in than Valetta in our opinion.
