Correncon Auberge

Lovely Auberge in the centre of the village of Correncon. Private parking and the owners could not have been more helpful and friendly. A lovely raclette in the evening with good wine and the company of other guests. A breakfast with too much to eat! I was made to feel very welcome.

The owner of this lovely small hotel - really like a bed & breakfast - was waiting outside on her sidewalk bench when we pulled up. Beautiful quiet village in the gorgeous North France mountains, bicyclists and hikers everywhere, fresh food and delicious local bubbly wine (remember don't call it "champagne" if it's not from the Champagne region!). Very friendly. As traditional in France, they are very proud of their French language and don't particularly try to excel in "speaking English" but this is culture not unfriendliness. We ate dinner in the fabulous cook-to-order restaurant, delicious excellent food. We bought a bottle of "bubbly" at the bar across the street and enjoyed it looking at the stars from outside the precious old cathedral a few steps. We had the breakfast, not a buffet but another cook-to-order and lovely. The local mountain roads leading up to the village as we came from the north (Geneva) and back down as we headed south to the Mediterranean, were astonishing, amazing beauty.

Great location, but it’s important to understand the concept of an “auberge,” where check-in is only possible when the owners are present. We tried to check in twice but were unsuccessful. We arrived at 7 p.m. and were told we could not have dinner, even though two tables were already occupied. We then had to wait 15 minutes to check in. When we departed, no one was available to collect the key or serve us a coffee. Quite disappointing is August High Season.

Das Doppelzimmer war sehr klein und das Doppelbett noch viel kleiner. Man könnte für diesen Preis wenigstens ein Bett erwarten, in dem zwei erwachsene Menschen liegen können. Die junge Frau, die uns das Zimmer übergeben hat, war sehr nett und bemüht mit uns zu kommunizieren. Wir hatten dann auch gleich 2 Bier bestellt, die uns dann 23€ gekostet haben. Ich würde da nicht mehr einkehren.

Charmante Auberge mit charmanten Hosts...

Sehr hübsches Ambiente, toller Service von sehr herzlichen Wirtsleuten. Gutes Essen im angegliederten Restaurant und alles super geklappt. Mini-Manko: Mein sehr geräumiges Zimmer hatte eine Türe für eine Erweiterung, welche etwas besser schallisoliert werden könnte. Ansonsten Top und super freundlich.
