What a great place to stay. In the country outside the actual town of Cooktown. The site is surrounded by rainforest and has a pool and large grassed area with several tracks to explore. The hosts (sue and Tony) were very approachable and helpful

This is a superior guest house, rather than a traditional hotel with all of the strengths and weaknesses that brings. One of the great strengths is the ability to BYOB and consume in comfortable surroundings without paying over the odds. The owners are always on hand for knowledgeable advice and a chat. The disadvantage is that the ancillaries are necessarily more constrained than in a hotel. The property was built as a fishing lodge, and is set in attractive grounds near the Endeavour river with deep cool shaded elevated verandas and a very comfortable common lounge. The bedrooms are in keeping with the original design.

The host Sue welcomed us and quickly made us feel at home. We had a wonderful stay in a clean comfortable room, set in a idyllic location!

Wonderful in every way. The accommodation was tremendous, breakfast was great and the evening meal ways delicious. Hosts, Sue and Tony, were the perfect hosts. When it was time to leave, it felt like we were saying goodbye to friends although we had only known them 2 days.q

The owner Tony and Sue were very helpful . Beautiful garden !! Including breakfast yum yum !😋😋 Can order dinner 3 course meal , main , desert and coffee . $35 , fish or chicken were fresh ,big serve and tasty . Good deal !! We are from Sydney , will come again soon .

This property is out of town and that contributes to its appeal. It is the retreat it purports to be. It is quiet, tranquil and set in the most beautiful lush tropical gardens and with a beautiful pool. We enjoyed tropical rain which is a treat. The rooms are great, beautifully decorated with attention to detail like beautiful sheets and fresh flowers, and with lovely garden outlooks. Lovely hosts. We could move in! Karen and Brett

Sue & Tony were very hospitable and helpful in letting us know about things to see in the area. It is obvious they have put a lot of time and effort in getting the property to the standard it is. Breakfast was excellent. Having access to streaming services was an advantage. We had our own shower but were not aware we would be sharing a toilet with another room until we arrived. Other accommodation properties stipulate if an ensuite is included. Had I known at the time of booking we would have to share a toilet I wouldn't have booked. I assumed our room would have basic tea and coffee making facilities and a small bar fridge to keep our water cold but it didn't. There was a communal fridge (I recall) located on the other side of the homestead where we could put things in but we would have preferred a bar fridge in our room. This wasn't mentioned on the list of amenities so obviously was my fault for not noticing at the time of booking. Now we are aware of what retreats offer we will be more careful to book.
