  • The second oldest building remaining on The Ohio State University campus, Orton Hall was opened in 1893. It is named after Dr Edward Orton, Sr. who served as Ohio State's first president, OSU Professor of Geology from 1873 to 1899, and Ohio's State Geologist from 1882 until his death in 1899. Orton Hall is built of 40 different Ohio building stones. In the outside walls, these stones are laid in stratigraphic order according to their relative positions in Ohio's bedrock. The only non-indigenous to Ohio stone used is Indiana Limestone to build the front steps. It was chosen because of its high concentration of embedded fossils. The bell tower was dedicated in 1915 and contains 25,000 pounds of bells that can be heard regularly tolling across campus. Encircling the top of the tower are 24 columns with gargoyle-like figures which are restorations of fossil animals.

Had issues with hot water in our room, but the front desk staff and management took care of the issue and provided compensation for the inconvenience. Always enjoy this hotel every time we visit the Easton Town Center area & will definitely be returning!

This is a very beautifully decorated place to stay and the room has everything you could need. Most of the staff were friendly, besides a housekeeper that blocked us from using the elevator and was rude when we asked if she was using it because it was the only one that would open with her cart blocking the service door. I didn’t have high hopes for the breakfast, but I was pleasantly surprised. The sausage biscuit sandwich and eggs were pretty good and they had a nice variety of options. The only downside to the room was that the thermostat wasn’t working, so the room was warmer than we liked and made our sleep quality low. We also had children screaming and stomping on the floor above us for an entire hour in the morning. Despite those pieces, I would still come back.

We always go to this hotel when we’re visiting family. This stay was ok as usual but my problem was the hot water. Pressure was very low at best and took so much time to get hot water. Quite a few time had to wash up and shower with cold water.
