Vacations Close To Maderas Golf Club

What a fantastic hotel! Location was amazing, easy walks to all of the neighborhoods, right on the bus line, and a 15 minute walk to the water. The fitness and yoga rooms were beautiful, water filling stations on several floors, the front desk staff was so friendly and accommodating. The room is a little small, the floor space is a bit tight, but you don’t go to San Diego to spend a ton of time in your room. The room was very nicely appointed, and the shower was great. Love that the room had both a mini fridge and microwave! We had one room with two double beds, for a parent and two teenagers and it worked great for us. Plus, the price of the hotel is less expensive than others in the area, so a slightly smaller room makes it more affordable. The area was safe and quiet. Would absolutely stay again!

We arrived late for check-in so when we arrived to our assigned room, we unloaded our bags and crashed out on the bed from the long day. I had reserved a lagoon room which we were very much looking forward to enjoying. On Sunday morning, after sleeping in, I went to get ready to shower and noticed blood splatter on the shower curtain and dried up blood spots on the bathroom tile. This turned my stomach and made me question the way this facility handles something as serious as blood-borne pathogens. I immediately called the Front Desk. We waited from 1030 to 1215 for our curtain to be changed. Our restock of the Keurig cups arrived sooner. The young man only changed the curtain and when we asked about cleaning the floor, he said he'd let someone know. It wasn't until after 1300 and three phone calls later that housekeeping arrived while I was on the phone with the Front Desk Manager. The Manager informed us that our room would get a complete refresh, including linens. Housekeeping only did minimal surface cleaning. Linens were not changed. At this point our stomachs were queasy and we no longer were comfortable staying in this room. So we repacked all our luggage into the car and drove to the Front Desk and asked to change rooms. The Front Desk Manager was amazing and expedient in giving us a new room that was closer to the beach. Her efforts did not go unnoticed, however we will not be returning here for evident lack of proper room cleaning and blood-borne pathogen training.

We asked for daily housekeeping and think that’s totally reasonable for the price per night. Drinks and food are expensive. We went 1 block over to the CVS and bought bottled water and snacks. Restaurants nearby have great happy hour deals on food and drinks and they were better.

Solid place, although the shower was inoperable due to a construction issue. Overall it was good, but for the price it should be excellent. We probably won’t be back.

Restaurant offered great food and service… and it was magazine quality presentation. Staff was great and welcoming. The only negative is that the exterior of the rooms are in need of repair. Beds are comfortable and in house coffee and tea were surprisingly good. We will be back! Golf course is stunning!
