Great Little Hotel in a Small Town

We were returning for my wife's 55th High School class reunion. We booked the Hometown Inn not knowing what to expect and were pleasantly surprised. A new young couple has recently purchased the Hotel and they are making great changes and upgrades. It was clean, well appointed and everyone was extremely friendly. They have even added breakfast, that while it was sparse, was certainly adequate for our needs. For a small town hotel, this is fabulous!

This property is under new owners. It is in rural Iowa and an older facility. Well maintained and clean. the new owners were very accommodating and they have plans for upgrading this property.

Dead bolt on room door wouldn't lock , sheets on the bed felt like the wasn't dry, tv wouldn't work very good and carpet felt like it was wet . Too many things to say will never stay there again.

Room smelled. Had to ask for towels. Breakfast was something to be desired. Absolutely terrible! We paid for two nights and had to leave due to unforeseen circumstances and they would not refund our money. Will never stay there again.

It was a place to lay our heads

There were hairs in the bed. We checked in at 5pm. Check on it's listed for 3pm, and they still hadn't cleaned it yet. I had a cold shower. Soap dispenser had muck at the bottom, and couldn't use it. One of the beds, when you moved springs would pop up and poke you. At least it was a closer stay fir going to the hospital the next morning.

The property manager, was extremely helpful and understanding. I used Expedia to book two rooms for two nights and prior to check in had to modify the reservation to cancel one night in the second room. Expedia did not provide the hotel with the update and I was concerned I would still be charged for it. As we were travelling for a family funeral, I was concerned about any additional costs and was not emotionally prepared to deal with Expedia's errors. Fortunately, she was understanding and didn't charge me for the night. She went far beyond what I would have ever imagined she would do to ensure our stay was as stress-free as possible. Thank you for your kindness and compassion during a very difficult time. If you are planning to book at this hotel, call the hotel directly and bypass Expedia.

It was disappointing the first morning being woke by other customers revving truck engines for 20 minutes starting at 5:30 am. After a long drive and long day, sleep was very much needed. I understand contractors renting by the week are important to your bottom line, but respect for other customers should be monitored and enforced. Front was not manned during normal business hours. Went to the front desk several times, with no success. Breakfast bar was not kept stocked. Coffee was good but found breakfast selections had been picked over to the point that Sunday morning I didn't find a item I could eat. Disappointed.

My mother had surgery scheduled for Monday n due to weather conditions we drove down the night before. We were taken care of upon arrival by the manager. Rooms were nice n clean, beds very comfortable. Knowing our situation because of the outstanding customer service the manager told my mother that if roads were still not good the next day she would let me keep my room free of charge! Our overall experience was very comforting n enjoyable!
