  • My dad's friend owns a really cool karting circuit in Pageas, a few kilometres from Chalus where I grew up in France. They are both hunters. I know this is not everyone's cup of tea, but a lot of people from that generation in rural France do like hunting, fishing, fetching mushrooms. There are woodlands all around the karting circuit. My dad and his friend have built some platforms in the trees, and from mid-October to mid-November they go there every morning to shoot migrating birds. Those ones are some sort of wood pigeons going from Eastern Europe / Russia to North Africa. I did my own shooting that morning... with my camera! The sunrise was spectacular with some nice pink colours and mist in the valley.

The Auberge is typically French Country Style but clean, tidy, and friendly. Particularly the owners who work hard to be accommodating and efficient. We really enjoyed our stay and can gladly recommend it. The bedroom was a good size, comfortable and clean. The food too was excellent.

Great little hotel

Its a lovely family run hotel, the owner has excellant customer service skills and all of the staff make the effort to make you feel like a valued customer. Yes aspects of the rooms could do with a refresh butit is easy to overlook that. The food was very good and good value for money. It was my wife's birthday whilst we were there and when the owner realised they arranged for her dessert to be brought out with an candle in it and Happy Birthday written in chocolate!
