Very Good

Host was pleasant however limited English. Office was kept locked at all times giving sense of safety issues. Room was noisy. Missing bathmat. Shower mixer appeared broken so either freezing or scolding hot with very low water pressure. Had to ask for wifi code which we couldn't get to work. Stark 80s style room with no decor at all. Tiny tv
Older motel. but well maintained. Close to all we needed to do. Supermarket not far away, city not far away, airport close enough. Staff helpful and friendly. Good price for size of room and amenities.
Fantastic, friendly staff, very comfortable. Will recommend to everyone.

Location the big plus
Staff were helpful, language barriers appeared to exsist
Room was functional
Wi-fi TOTALLY FRUSTRATING
Noisier than expected, both road and inter-unit
Cleanliness was definitely a lower level than what we were happy with-esp. shower
Proximity to services and especially the table tennis facility was the saving factor
We stayed in the one bedroon unit which is perfect for families. Great to have full kitchen facilities, good space in the rooms. Excellent service from staff and would stay again

Average old Christchurch motel
Last minute booking so went y price. The place was cheap enough and the condition reflected the price.
typical 1970s place with mostly original fixtures. The bathroom had a partial upgrade but that was it. The shower had to be rinsed down to remove the hair before using. The tv only had basic channels. The fridge was really noisey and the little column heater barely knocked the chill off.

Cool hotel staff
Arrived early and early check in wasn't a problem. Asked to use the hotel laundry and they told us to go sightseeing and did our laundry for us. Internet was free and fast enough to watch Netflix.

Clean & Tidy
Relaxing motel to stay in. Lovely owners!
Studio room good size and very clean. Loved the separate kitchen which had plenty of space, good stove & fridge and plenty of kitchen utensils.
The Earnslaw was exactly what we were wanting for one night in Christchurch - well located for our needs, reasonable price, clean and comfortable. We were not looking for somewhere new and modern, in fact we liked the homely feel of this place.
I made a last minute booking as soon as I arrived in CHC, so I expected a small cramped up motel, bad service etc etc. but instead I recommend this to be the best motel I have ever stayed at! The staff was so friendly! The room was massive! Even had a seperate kitchen! It's in reach of everything but not far away either.
Check in time was 14.00 I arrived at 14.30 to be told my room was not ready and to come back in 30-40 mins this was the only issue I had with this motel, the "room" I had was like a house it had full kitchen facilities a big lounge and big bathroom, the motel is close to all shops the mall and is only 20 mins from the city centre, the manageress even did my laundry and was very helpful and smiley.

Disliked: Cleanliness
There was quite a bit of noise until quite late some nights. It seemed as if some units had long term stayers. It was at the budget end and probably delivered accordingly.
Friendly & helpful owners. Motel was handy to where we wanted to go with a bus service to the mall if you are not driving. Otherwise about 20-25min walk.

Tow rooms had light bulbs that did not work, doors squeaked and the second bedroom door would not close.

Comfortable Stay
Comfortable and quiet motel with easy parking. Owners were helpful and friendly and were able to accommodate a late checkout which was much appreciated.
I phoned ahead and explained that i could check in untill 10.30 pm. No problem , we will wait for you.
Great. And they did.

Basic but Clean
A basic motel with not many bells and whistles. Provided all you want is a roof over your head and a clean room, then the Earnslaw Motel will give you this for not a lot of money. It has television, though no pay channels, a small kitchen, and a basic bathroom. The room was clean, and the bed was comfortable (neither too hard not too soft). Reasonable value for money. One drawback to note is that one can hear the traffic on Blenheim Road.
