To Expedia Staff: Unsafe, Misleading, and Unresponsive – A Terrifying Experience at Villa Dubouis Guest House or Warning: Unsafe and Uninhabitable Stay – Villa Dubouis Guest House, Chicago Review: I want to share my experience so that other travelers don’t go through the same terrifying situation I did. I booked a stay at Villa Dubouis Guest House in Chicago through Expedia for October 24–25 and October 26–27, 2025. When I arrived around 10:00 p.m., I discovered the property was located in a dark, unsafe, and desolate neighborhood — completely different from what was advertised online. There was no front desk, no lights, no visible staff or security, and the place looked abandoned. I tried calling and texting the phone number posted on the door multiple times, but no one ever answered. Even my Uber driver warned me that it was not a safe area and refused to leave me there alone. I was left stranded late at night in a neighborhood that clearly posed a safety risk. I had no choice but to leave immediately and find another hotel at my own expense. What’s even more disappointing is that after reporting everything to Expedia, they denied my refund request, claiming the property refused to honor it — despite the fact that I never even had access to my room and was never greeted or assisted by anyone. Be sure you read over the details and have your expectations in the right spot for this property. Overall, it was clean and well organized. Think hostel without a front desk. It is a guest house similar to the set up I've experienced in South Korea. We were the only ones in the lower level so it was quiet, but I'm not sure what it would be like with other people. The kitchen did have a variety of pans and plates, but not too many. 1) GPS and Parking: The pin from the app took me to an alley. It was one street off. It has street parking -- isn't on the property, but at the property. Free, but first come first serve. 2) Contact the property before you arrive. I was expecting an email with specify arrival instructions, but that did not happen until I called. We made it work for us, but it wasn't exactly what we expected.

Hello people Yes I recently stayed at this house for two nights. When I went for vacation, two weeks ago. When I did the booking, I was asked to Zelle 300$ for “deposit” and that I would get it back a week after…. DO NOT BOOK OR STAY HERE!… I DID NOT GET BACK MY DEPOSIT! DID NOTT! Very Nice Place

I was in Chicago for a trade show at McCormick Place. It was close by so catching a Lyft of Uber was easy and affordable. The neighborhood feels safe, although it is a little older, you still don't feel unsafe there. It is very quiet. For me, there was no issue with sharing the bathroom or having other people there. No shoes worn in the home also was fantastic because not only did it cut down on the mess it also makes it quieter. The pillows are great and the bed is comfortable.
